Tsubasa vs Misty!!

(sorry I don't feel like writing a long intro post :v)
Bursting out from the Pokemon center with three fully healed Pokemon, two of which were actually up to usable standards, Tsukino Tsubasa, who was a threatening and upcoming trainer who had recently acquired the Boulder Badge from the rock type leader of Pewter City was now in a hurry to deal with his next obstacle which represented itself to him in the form of a moderately large sized creative aquarium like building known as the water type gym. Not bothering to knock, he opened the door..

Tsubasa did not comment on the complaints he received from the opposing gym leader. The challenger was confused as to how the leader did not appear to be capable and effective in battle. However he must take into account that the previous gym leader, Brock, was his hardest and most intense battle so far and the leader had his eyes closed during the entire battle apparently. To add to that, he probably did not even use his best Pokemon. Finally speaking Tsubasa warned the gym leader, "I won't disappoint! Go, Misdreavus!"

Misdreavus, level 28.

The trainer threw a pokeball at the stand and out came the ghost type Pokemon who started to float above the stand using its ability to levitate. As cute as it looked, it was not to be underestimated and was capable of taking on the toughest of foes. Just this evening had the trainer caught the ghost type, when he almost lost a battle to it using his Dratini. Seeing as the gym leader was giving him the first move, he snickered and grinned, wanting to inform the opponent that it was a bad decision to do so but kept quiet anyway.

"Thunderbolt!"

The order came swiftly. The ghost type charged a beam of electricity and shot it towards the Staryu in an attempt to damage it thoroughly.

Water Pulse came at the Misdreavus rapidly. As it was used after dodging the ghost pokemon's attack, Misdreavus saw it coming from its levitating position and easily floated out of the way. Harden, the gym leader had then ordered. Heh. Upping your defenses won't help you against Thunderbolt, its Special! Tsubasa grinned and snickered, his face mocking the gym leader as he called her pathetic in his mind. However he should be careful not to underestimate gym leaders. It was hard to do that seeing said gym leader was using Harden to defend a Thunderbolt.
"Confuse Ray! Follow it up with Thunderbolt!"

Misdreavus formed a sphere of ghost type energy first and launched it towards the the Staryu, trying to confuse it upon striking it. The ghost type charged up another beam of electricity and fired at the Staryuu right afterwards.

Expecting for a witty maneuver, Tsubasa decided not to use Thunderbolt this turn. Instead he ordered for a Psywave. The Misdreavus scanned the water locating the opposing Pokemon, before firing a beam of psychic type energy at the estimated location. As soon as the beam left the Pokemon, Staryu jumped up from the water and fired a Water Pulse at the levitating Pokemon. Caught by surprise, the Pokemon desperately tried to change the direction of the Psybeam to stop the Water Pulse. The Pokemon managed to hit the upcoming move a little but was somehow overpowered as the attack broke through and struck the screech Pokemon.

Thanks to its O.K. special defense, the Pokemon took the hit, floated back and got back into its initial position. Although hurt, the Pokemon tried not to show it. "Thunderbolt, again!" Tsubasa ordered gritting his teeth wondering how the Staryu survived the first one. Hoping the confusion status would allow for an easy hot, Tsubasa waited and watched as his Misdreavus fired a jolt of electricity at the Staryu once again. Tsubasa was lucky he had a level advantage. Nevertheless he cannot afford to keep taking hits from silly mistakes.

Misdreavus' Thunderbolt and Staryu's Water Pulse clashed. As the water type had a same type attack boost and the Misdreavus didn't, and as the ghost type's electric attack had a type advantage over the water attack, the two somehow neutralized each other, the remaining spark of electricity misdirected itself and struck far away. Tsubasa was starting to worry when things began to turn around when the opposing Pokemon started toflop around in its confused state. "Finish it!" Was Tsubasa's order. Without explanation, Misdreavus understood and fired one last Thunderbolt at the Staryu, attempting to knock itout this time.

Starmie. Tsubasa recalled everything he can about a regular Starmie. Of all, Water/Psychic was the most important detail. Tsubasa felt something different in this Starmie. By looking at it or by the way it.. he didn't know. He just felt that this one was stronger than any Pokemon he had fought before. Mapping out plans to take it down, Tsubasa didn't get much time before a Hydro Pump was fired. Tch! Hydro Pump! Tsubasa gritted his teeth. The fact that a gym leader would order a risky less accurate move such as Hydro Pump annoyed him. Without order, Misdreavus fired a Thunderbolt towards the Hydro Pump. The move managed to slow it down long enough for the ghost type to quickly dodge the move by floating away from the beam of water type energy. The Hydro Pump missed by over a foot and hit a concrete pillar, cracking it with ease.

Trying not to be distracted by the power, Tsubasa thought effectively and quickly/ "Spite!" The order came. Misdreavus' eyes glowed red as it glared at the Starmie in an attempt to use Spite, removing 4 PP from the last used move. Hydro Pump in this case would be disabled if this maneuver hits, as it has 5 pp in total. "Follow it up with Dark Pulse!" A sphere of dark type energy materialized in front of the Misdreavusand shot itself at the Starmie at great speeds.

Tch. Tsubasa gritted his teeth as the Starmie, a water type some how coated itself in electricity without getting hurt as it rammed into Misdreavus. Technically the initial move was Rapid Spin, and Misdreavus was immune to normal type moves. The electricity part of the maneuver struck the Misdreavus and sent it flying a few feet back, but the actual Thunderbolt fired at the Misdreavus too late and in the intensity of the battle it floated aside from the attack. However, Misdreavus was hurt at this point and couldn't take many more hits. Aiming to damage the opposing Pokemon with his Misdreavus at least once before it faints, Tsubasa ordered for another Dark Pulse.

A ball of dark type energy materialized yet again and fired at the Starmie aiming to cause damage. Tsubasa was going to have to be more careful in this battle. Tsubasa knew this battle was going to be harder than Brock, but had not anticipated for a Pokemon stronger than his to be used.

The Dark Pulse clashed with and misdirected the Thunderbolt. Tsubasa snickered at the overly sassy opponent. "Don't mistake my excitement for fear." the challenger stated clearly and made eye contact with the gym leader with a mocking expression. He raised his hand up in the air and ordered for another Thunderbolt. The Misdreavus struck the water with Thunderbolt, hoping to conduct the body of water with electricity and harm the Starmie.

Misdreavus was caught off guard and got hit straight on by the Thunderbolt which caused it to faint, unable to keep going. Collapsing into the water, the Confuse Ray was left without a target to hit. Grinning excitedly, Tsubasa retrieved the ghost type from its Pokeball. He was just getting started. Dratini. Go. The challenger launched a Pokeball towards the arena and out popped a long Dratini very close to evolving, a little over eight feet long already. Before the serpent landed either the water or the platform, Tsubasa ordered for an Agility, the Pokemon shrouding itself in a pink aura of energy before boosting its speed massively, gaining a speed advantage over the Starmie in the process.

The opposing Pokemon had not taken a single hit! Such a pain! Tsubasa muttered to himself, cussing at the star shaped a-hole as he plotted a combination assault. As the Dratini landed on the platform, Tsubasa ordered for a Twister and the serpent dragon followed his orders by vibrating the end of its tail and spinning it rapidly, efficiently and quickly forming a tornado of dragon type energy around the tail and spinning it as it launched the Twister towards the Starmie. As the tornado passed Dratini's face, the Pokemon used a Thunderbolt, charging lightning and shooting it out from its orb at the Twister, the two moves successfully intertwined forming a deadly electrifying tornado that rushed at the water type.

The tornado partly lifted up bits of and electrocuted the water body beneath it as it carved it way almost parting the pool apart as it attempted to crash into the Starmie.

Being an intellectual trainer, Tsubasa reacted as soon as he heard the order from the gym leader. Twister. The Dratini reacted with its enhanced speed to efficiently and quickly summon another dragon type tornado from its tail and extended it as it grew longer and more powerful. Instead of heading straight for the spinning Starmie, Tsubasa ordered for the Dratini to strike the water in front of the opposing pokemon first. Just before the opposing Pokemon crossed the water body towards the Dratini's platform, the tornado struck the water, kicking up lots of water towards the electrified tornado hoping for the water to conduct electricity better and allow for the conductive element to hurt the Starmie by conducting the electricity on to it. Regardless the water covered layer of the twister would attempt to encircle the pre-existing tornado around the Starmie and hold it in place while trying to electrify it. Either it would crash into the water or stay mid air in place as the stab boosted Twister was strong enough and capable of performing the task. If the Starmie should still somehow over power it, the overpowered water covered twister would explode bursting the water and possibly screwing the opposing Pokemon over due to the electricity covered twister conducting it easily, splashing lots of water around for the electricity to conduct and/or the Starmie would misfire due to the opposing power preventing it from coming directly at the Dratini. It should be noted that the Starmie had just jumped out of the water and would be soaked in it and logically it should have been fried from the initial Twister thrown with the Thunderbolt as despite its spins the electricity would have conducted on to it.

Tch. Gym battles are supposed to be hard but this one is starting to become a little unreasonable, the Pokemon used, Tsubasa was unsure whether it was actually a Pokemon she uses in the gym battle regularly, or was somehow registered in the Pokemon League however that thing worked. He was unsure and didn't bother complaining, just kept to himself as he gritted his teeth. He did not train his Pokemon so that the early gyms would change theirs to match up to his, the point was to make progress easy. Training is pointless if the gyms keep upgrading to meet their challenger's Pokemon, in that case gyms are easier when the challenger doesn't bother training his Pokemon. And a Starmie is not water proof, it takes resistant damage from water type attacks and diving into water would soak it in water. If things had gone realistically the star shaped brat should of fainted some time ago. And the beat, had the Pokemon spun rhythmically it would have slowed down as it would have had to keep changing the speed to match the rhythm and ultimately be taken over by the twister. Fried.

Despite everything he decided to rely on logistics once again. The opposing Pokemon had to curve in order to avoid the ceiling and that would imply it was falling to some degree and by any means cannot change the direction of its fall considering twenty feet is not high enough to direct one's body like one would when parachuting. Tsubasa ordered the Dratini to fire a Thunderwave at the direction, aiming a foot or two in front of the Starmie. This was just the distraction. Taking advantage of the fact that the Starmie was twenty feet high, he decided to rampage on the star shaped Pokemon.

Should it hit or miss, the Dratini would fire another couple of moves. First a Dragon Rage, a massive ball of violet like energy aimed to hit the Starmie and attack its health points directly deducting forty from its health. That would be followed by another Thunderbolt Twister, an electrified bloodthirsty tornado with its eyes set on ravaging the opposing Pokemon thoroughly, with the ability to follow the opponent. Tsubasa was desperate and furious.

The battle had appeared to reach its climax but in a sudden turn of events, it became evident that it was only beginning. Tsubasa, who initially seemed frustrated, turned his frown upside down and showed a hint of a smug grin, overwhelmed with the excitement incited on him by the fast paced battle that only just now paused for an abrupt moment and allowed the trainer a breather. His dragon and his obstacle remained at a distance, facing each other, both at their full potential. He recollected that the serpent dragon had used agility once before and potentially had a speed advantage. Perhaps it was best to stick to conventional methodologies at this point, for he had been throwing complex mixes of maneuvers at Misty from the beginning, with the Staryu and Misdreavus.

As intimidating as the gym leader and her Starmie would appear, Tsubasa felt that she appeared easier than Brock was, as the conditions in which he had to beat the rock type leader were much more challenging and pressure inflicting. The trainer took a long breath to analyze the situation and decide what move to make next. The battle with her was not a test of intellect but more one of raw power.

Tsubasa pointed at the opposing pokemon and stated assertively, "Thunderbolt." He had decided not to over think the battle and instead use the most basic strategy of pokemon.

Dratini wasted no time as the orb on its forehead glowed a bright yellow and immediately projected a lengthy charged beam of electricity accelerating vigorously towards the dormant Starmie, hoping to strike hard and electrocute.

"Tch." Tsubasa regretted having left the wrong impression on the opponent. She seemed to have undermined his ability to make decisions quickly judging on how he took his time with making his decision during the pause which she thought was provided to him by her. As soon as he aw the initial assault, he was sure a second would follow. "Dratini. Slam!" He asserted confidently. The long serpentine used its tail to abruptly strike the water in front of it hard, causing a huge splash.

The redirected thunderbolt struck the rising splash and conducted immediately. It attention went from the dragon to the water quickly. The Agility and the anticipation of the Confuse Ray should have made it fairly simple for the dragon to simply and swiftly evade to a side and cause the attack to miss by over a foot. The unfairness of this battle was a little unnerving to Tsubasa who thought that Misty was holding back on purpose. The overly confident and perhaps a little pretentious trainer took another deep breath as he watched the wave collapse and the anticipated follow up attack.

After another small pause, the trainer exclaimed, "Aqua Jet!" This would seem unconventional but he was only using it to move quickly. The Dratini would enclose itself in a veil of water and zoom towards the Starmie quickly, causing the water below to part and give way. On the trajectory, the confuse ray would strike him head on and successfully confuse him. Tsubasa had decided to gamble on that maneuver and hope for Dratini to carry on with the assault. Just as it would reach close enough, Tsu would yell, "Dragon Tail!" and the serpent would spin once hard with its glowing tail and attempt to strike the Starmie hard once again. After this, the dragon would be dizzy and unable to move in the next round.
