After a long journey, it's time to... Train!!

Suddenly a Roselia (Male - lvl 12) leapt out of the grass rather angry at something and began unleashing a Poison Sting attack on Meriana full force and scowling at her.

Meriana made a rather panicked yelping noise as the poison sting flew at her. She ducked in what was not so much a dodge but rather a lucky cringe. The poison sting stuck into a tree behind her, and without really thinking Meriana grabbed a pokeball and released the pokemon within. Luckily, it turned out to be Top. "Top! Use icy wind!" Meriana yelled to the small pokemon. It replied with a "Mime!" and it's hands began to glow an eerie, icy blue. A wind with shards of ice blew quickly towards the opposing pokemon.

Roselia rolled aside avoiding the attack before, following it up with Stun Spore to try and paralyze the troublesome Mime Jr.; Once the Stun Spore had been unleashed, Roselia followed it up with Absorb to try and steal some of Top's health for himself.

Top quickly moved out of the way of the spore attack, however was unfortunately hit by the absorb. The attack did some damage, however there were no visible signs of harm on Mr. Mime. A plan began to work it's way into Meriana's head, and she acted on it immediately. Top! First use Mimic to mimic the stun spore. Spread a lot of the spore's in front of you and do not walk into them!" Top's body glowed white for a second as he waved his hands, and the stun spores appeared in front of him. "Okay! Now use icy wind, to blow the spores towards it at incredible speed." Once again Top's hands glowed the same eerie, light blue and a heavy wind littered with ice crystals picked up the stun spores and sent them flying towards the pokemon in a beautiful combination attack.

Roselia however was having none of it and immediately used another Stun Spore to block the attack and give himself time to dodge then using yet another Absorb attack to take some more of Top's health and following it up with yet another Stun Spore to once again try and paralyze it.

This time, top was not quick enough. The absorb attack hit him and in his moment of weakness the spores hit him too. The effect was immediately noticeable, as the pokemon slowed down immediately. Quickly Meriana thought, then shouted to her pokemon "Top! We're going to try to disable that pokemon. Use copycat to send more stun spores at it and then use confusion!" Top's hands started to glow faintly as stun spores and telikinetic force was launched at the other pokemon.

Roselia attempted to dodge but, unfortunately tripped on a tree root and fell head first into becoming Paralyzed. Roselia was soon after struck by the powerful Telekinetic energy of the Confusion attack and writhed in pain due to it being super effective cause, of it's partial poison typing, Roselia became weak but, tried to catch Top off guard by using Absorb to also, regain some of it's health.

Forgetting her composure for a second, Meriana jumped on the spot and held her hand in the air. She saw the Roselia attempt to use an absorb attack and yelled for Top to dodge it. Nimbly he pirouetted out of the way, however found that half way through the pirouette was struck by the earlier paralysis. The absorb attack missed him by inches and Meriana thought over what was happening. She could switch him out, but she'd rather not. Calmly she yelled out to Top"Stay there and keep calm. Try to get back to your feet and the paralysis will pass. You just have to wake and be alert." The pokemon got to its feet and stayed there, waiting calmly.

Roselia saw that Top was having trouble with the paralysis and decided that the best way of taking Top down was simple, he dashed in closed and used Stun Spore on the floor to provide a little propulsion to push himself over Top if he could and if it worked he would lay his roses actually on Top and use Absorb from super close range for maximum power and effect.

As soon as Meriana saw the pokemon get launched in the air, ideas ran through her mind. The pokemon was coming for some kind of up close attack. As to what it was, Meriana could not be sure. In a few seconds she thought over the moves known by Top. Icy wind was super effective and from close range might even blow the pokemon off course. Roselia were light, and so meriana yelled to her pokemon "Top! Use icy wind when its in range and try to make the wind strong enough to blow it off course." Momentarily Top was slowed by paralysis but quickly got over the affliction, his hands glowing signifying another icy wind attack.

Exactly at the wrong moment, paralysis struck the Thorn pokemon. It stiffened at an awkward pose but would have been able to gain enough mobility to land gracefully enough on it's feet, if the Icy WInd hadn't suddenly struck it and blown it back. It flew back and crashed on a conveniently placed rock and moved no more. It had fainted.

Mime. Jr gained 12 exp!
Mime. Jr grew to level 11 with 2 exp remaining!

As the pokemon fainted, Top once again collapsed on the ground. Worried Meriana ran over to it, only to find that as soon as she did the pokemon started giggling. Obviously it was only tricking her again, however it quickly stopped giggling as it was struck by another fit of paralysis. The sun could be seen rising on the horizon, and the surrounding area was starting to get a little bit lighter. Meriana definitely wanted to get back to the pokemon centre before everyone woke up, and so she returned Top to its pokeball and started to walk back towards the city.

Dawn was approaching. Several bushes and tufts of foliage were already stirring with drowsy pokemon as they broke out of their slumber. A flock of Archen took wing as they flew directly across Meriana's path. Several Rattata dashed across the road. However, one stayed behind to playfully bat at a lagging Archen. It whirled around on the Rattata. Here were two opponents, as they just caught sight of the approaching trainer.

Meriana watched as the two pokemon played, but squeaked slightly in fright as they turned towards her. Two pokemon in one battle? Meriana had never done that before, but it surely would be a test, and an exciting one at that. She felt the familiar excitement and courage rising inside her as she saw that the pokemon were turning towards her. She quickly thought of which pokemon were in the best shape to battle - Top was the most injured and so that left Bitty and Tuft. This would be tufts first battle and so she would need to be careful, not to mention these pokemon looked tougher and bigger than the two. Most likely they were of a higher level. She grabbed the two pokeballs out of her bag and let Bitty and Tuft out, shouting to them "I'm counting on you two!" Meriana took out her pokedex and pointed it at the two approaching pokemon. She would want to know a little more about them before the battle.

(I guess they'd be returned to full health. Actually, no, they wouldn't. I suppose walking back makes more sense, but if you wanted to dash to the Center without encountering anything, you could actually put it in the same post. Like 'Meriana grabbed her pokemon and dashed to the Center. Moments later, she emerged, pokemon fulled healed by her side. She breathed a sigh of relief and plucked up the courage to venture furthur again.' Or something...)

The PokeDex beeped, swiftly filing through several hundred files before picking up the required ones.

Archen : First Bird Pokemon
Revived from a fossil, this Pokémon is thought to be the ancestor of all bird Pokémon. Unable to fly, they moved about by hopping from one branch to another.

Rattata : Mouse Pokemon
Rattata is cautious in the extreme. Even while it is asleep, it constantly listens by moving its ears around. It is not picky about where it lives - it will make its nest anywhere. Its fangs are long and very sharp. They grow continuously, so it gnaws on hard things to whittle them down. Small and very quick, it is a common sight in many places. If you see one, it is certain that 40 more live in the area. It appears to be jittery and unable to remain still. It eats everything. Wherever food is available, it will settle down and produce offspring continuously. It ceaselessly scavenges for edibles the entire day. This Pokémon's impressive vitality allows it to live anywhere.

The Rattata's ears pricked as the 'Dex softly beeped, and true to it's definition, began to restlessly pace about. The Archen continued to warily eye it's opponents.

Meriana listened and took note of the information. The bird couldn't fly, so she didn't need to worry about it being able to fight Bitty. The rattata was unlikely to stop moving, so there was a chance that could be used as an advantage. She had seen Rattata before, and so she knew that they often weren't very strong. The Archen however, was new to her. Not even her father had shown her one, despite his many travels. To start off with she would incapacitate the enemies- Confusion would work well with the rattata as it would be restless, and so she said in a commanding voice "Bitty! Use supersonic on the rattata, and Tuft, use acid to hit both pokemon!" Bitty threw his head back in the air and an ear splitting oise emanated from it, while a stream of acid sprayed out of Tuft's mouth targeting both opposing pokemon.

The Rattata nimbly dodged the Supersonic sound waves, as the move had low accuracy anyway. It dashed closer to the Noibat, and attempted to full-body Tackle it, along with STAB, it was a powerful move. The Acid singed the purple fur of the rodent, turning it charred black, but it didn't stop in it's attempt of it's move.

The Archen squealed in discomfort as the Acid dripped over it, and managed to flap it's wings in distress and gain a little ground, maybe a foot off the ground. It moved surprisingly quick towards the Oddish and tried to strike out with it's wings for a STAB super effective Wing Attack.

Meriana could see that the Rattata was fast, and so to combat this she would have to make her own pokemon faster. Bitty knew the move tailwind, which would make her pokemon doubly fast for a while. This could also make oddish faster, helping it somewhat- She wasn't too confident about this battle, if truth be told. She watched and ordered bitty to dodge the rattata's attack, and it did so with ease by batting its wings, sending it above the pokemon's reach.  "Bitty, use tailwind to increase your speed, and the speed of Tuft!" The pokemon squeaked and flew in a circle, flapping its wings to pick up speed and using the wind to make Oddish able to move faster.

Oddish was not lucky enough to dodge its opponents attacks- the archen was larger and lain stronger than it. It was smacked hard by the wing attack and Oddish cried out. The attack had caused pain and damage, and oddish was clearly injured. Meriana would have to pull it out if it took many more hits like that. The small pokemon quickly got back up though, and listened for Meriana's orders. "Use absorb, Tuft! Be careful!" The small pokemon jumped back using its newfound speed, and launched a STAB absorb attack at the opposing pokemon.

-4 turns left on tailwind-

The Rattata squeaked indignantly. It wasn't fair that it's opponent had the power of flight while it didn't. It decided to vent out it's frustration on Oddish, and dashed toward it with a Tackle. The Archen was hit by the Aborb, but it only did neutral damage, and it couldn't have regained close to as much health as it lost, so it decided to try out another Wing Attack on the Grass pokemon, tag teaming and ignoring the Noibat for now.

Meriana watched with disdain as both pokemon ganged up on Tuft. This was dangerous- both pokemon were of a much higher level, and Archen's attacks were super effective on the small pokemon. It got hit by the wing attack and it cried loudly, although it was knocked out of the way of the tackle. Tuft was clearly injured badly. It would quickly be knocked out at this rate, or potentially worse and she decided that it was unsafe to leave it out. "Oddish, return!" She said, and watched as the pokemon was converted into the red light and swept into the pokeball. She would have to use Top at this point, although it was injured and paralysed. It was the only one of her pokemon who's level was close to equal with these two, and so she released it from it's pokeball. It pirouetted on the ground, and started to hop up and down mimicking the Archen. "Top! Use confusion, on the rattata! And Bitty, use a screech on the rattata followed by an aerial ace immediately after Top's attack! Focus all attacks on rattata, try to stay out of Archens reach!" She yelled to her pokemon, and Bitty let out an ear splitting screech as Top's hands glowed pink, the air around Rattata distorting slightly as it attempted to use confusion on the pokemon.

The Rattata squeaked as the Confusion struck, jarring it's nerves and blurring it's highly focused senses. Almost immediately, it it winced from the Screech which left it vulnerable to the Aerial Ace. With it's defenses lowered double-fold, the Aerial Ace hurt more than it should have. And with the opposing team's speed heightened, this team was a bit at a downside.

Archen had clearly had enough. It gave a furious screech and stamped on the ground. Several rocks erupted from it's surroundings and flew towards the Noibat. Rock Throw. Also STAB, super effective against the Noibat. The Rattata shook itself and gave a chatter, a swift clicking of it's teeth and attempted to Tackle the Mime.Jr.

This time Meriana was more than ready for the pokemon's attacks, ordering her pokemon to move out of the way. Bitty darted in between the rocks and Top pirouetted out of the way of the Rattata's tackle, pretending to fall over and tumbling backwards back onto its feet. "Mime Mime!" It said excitedly. Meriana still wished to focus on the rattata, finding that it was one of the most effective methods. She would also switch it up this time- the pokemon most likely expected special attacks from Top and physical attacks from Bitty. She quickly thought over her pokemon's moves, and chose two that she hoped would give her an advantage."Top, double slap the Rattata and Bitty, use leech life!" She yelled to them confidently.

The Rattata nimbly ducked, and grinned an evil, ratty grin. The Psychic type was in close proximity. It bared it's fangs and lunged in for a vicious Bite. The Leech Life barely fazed the Normal type, what with it being a non-STAB and low base powered move. The Archen flapped and screeched and was causing quite a commotion. It flung rock after rock toward the Noibat. The wing would soon peter out.
