Maven takes his time in battles. Though his life, he has learned that the shortest route is not always the easiest. Thus, he waits until he is sure he can take down the foe without consequence. Most often, he prefers Pokémon that can protect or heal themselves, or at the very least do the same for those that cannot.

Looks: A rather humble-looking young man. He likes to dress nicely, though never aims to be flashy; thus, he can be overlooked quite easily in a crowd, as he's quite unremarkable. Due to his origins in White Forest, he's quite used to warmer temperatures; a lot of climates are comparatively cold to him. He is normally outfitted in a pair of simple, flexible, khaki pants, along with an off-white thermal, over which he wears a simple black-blue coat. On top of this, he even wears a scarf and gloves. Maven typically keeps his hair longer in order to keep his ears warm, and lets it stay slightly unkempt because he likes to let the wind flow through it. He finds it rude that people think his attire isn't suited for adventures (all of his clothing is durable and made for such a thing).

Personality: Maven is a very reserved fellow. While he doesn't speak to people in passing unless spoken to, he is a very curious person; thus, if something about someone catches his eye, he'll get nagging feelings about whether or not he should approach. Having very few friends as a child, Maven was quite content with simple joys in life, such as sitting in the canopies of White Forest. He enjoys being outside, quiet spaces, and enjoying time with those he cherishes (namely his Pokémon). Also, he tends to like light breezes; these seem to come at the exact moment he wills it, though he is unaware he is an Elementalist as of yet. Maven disdains those that get ahead at the expense of others; in addition, he is a generally intolerant person when it comes to his surroundings. While he can take a mud puddle or rugged terrain, he tends to be unable to accustom himself to drastic climates (which is the basis of his outfit). Surprisingly, he is one to hold a grudge (for a sufficient reason). He enjoys battling as an art, believing that prevailing over others matters less than how the battle itself turned out. Above all, he has a bond with Felsic that transcends words.

History: A native and resident (if only at heart, now) of White Forest, born to Ezekiel and Alita Margrace. As a child, he was generally....ignored? It was not that others did not want to talk to him, no; he just happened to be easily unnoticeable. His (albeit somehow enjoyably) lonely childhood was the key to him being the passive young man he is today.

When he was ten, his parents picked up from the simple lifestyle of White Forest and moved to Black City. Being the rather intolerant person he is, Maven could not adapt to the colder climate compared to White Forest. (This, he would learn, was to be a problem that would follow him through many of his travels.) As he grew older, he learned to hate. And that was a dreadful thing, being hated by the most indirect person in the entire city. Eventually, he decided to go on a Pokémon journey. Where he would start....he didn't know. And quite frankly, he didn't care.

In the beginning, it was more running away from home than anything. Though....at the age of fourteen, after living on his own for a couple of years, he found an injured Pokémon. Using what little funds he had left, he nursed it back to health (not having a Trainer Card, he couldn't just walk into a Pokémon Center). And thus they left. Dubbing his new friend Felsic, they traveled far around Unova, helping Pokémon in any way possible. At the age of 17, Maven became an official Trainer-Type Ranger. Ever since....he has been doing good wherever he can. That calling serves as his current goal; the Gym Challenges of each region are just a roundabout means to accomplish that goal.

Personality: A usually shy soul, Felsic tends to take random bouts of emotion and action if it gets intrigued or excited. This Mirror Pokémon takes uncanny joy (even among his kin) in scaring others, and is loyal even through its mischief. Disliking being in a Poké Ball, Felsic usually Minimizes to fit on Maven's person.
