Basic Information
~*Name*~ Amber Primrose
~*Alias*~ The Pack Leader
~*Age*~ 18
~*Gender*~ Female
~*Rank*~ Trainer, dabbles in Contests on occasion
~*Birthplace*~ Castelia City, Unova
Physical Information
~*Looks*~
Amber's appearance can best be described as 'wild'. She has long, chest-lengthed hair in a shade of raven black. Though it looks typically black at first glance, in the right light it will shine with brilliant shades of dark purple and other varieties of dark tints. To go along with her peculiar hair, she has tan skin that gives people a native vibe, and she carries some native blood in her veins. Her eyes are a dark chocolate brown, while she has chistled, defined cheek bones. Unlike most teens and people her age, she never suffered from acne breakouts, and was sparred any zit or scar resulting from one. She can be considered attractive, but not entirely without her flaws. Build-wise, Amber is pretty tall, and prone to 'loom over' her female peers. Because of her tall figure, she's also somewhat lean and unmuscular. She has one slightly crooked tooth, and has always felt self conscious of this.
~*Height*~ 6'0"
~*Weight*~ 130 lbs.
~*Common Attire*~
Typically, Amber dresses modestly. She'll always at least have a t-shirt on, and won't consider wearing any sort of tanktop or sleeveless shirt. She prefers a good pair of jeans no matter the weather, and will usually wear a pull-over hoodie in the cold. She almost never wears jewellery or any designer clothing. She appreciates the value of money too much to waste it on having a popular pair of jeans that will probably be ruined in the elements anyway.
~*Formal Wear*~
If the need for formal attire arises, Amber has a plain, black gown stashed away. It's the only fancy type of clothing she owns, and the only one she will wear. Even in a formal setting, like a dinner or contest, she still will rarely wear jewellery, partially in the fact that she doesn't own any. If needed, she'll put up with a necklace or bracelet.
Cult of Personality
~*Personality*~
Around people, the first quality of Amber's that many of her peers notice is her lack of trust and personal connection around them. She's seen as a very cold and detached person, though she has a strict 'eye for an eye' attitude, and will return any kindness done to her. Because of this, she'll also easily hold grudges and get revenge for any misdeed done upon her. She never forgets anyone who's wronged her. She's also seen as somewhat of a quiet and shy personality, and if not approached, won't typically go out of her way to talk to someone. However, this shyness is because of her lack of trust. If you do manage to strike up a conversation, she isn't afraid to speak her mind, even if it will offend the people around her. She rarely shows fear around others, but this is partially a facade.
On her own, Amber is unsure of herself. Usually when she's putting on a brave face in front of others, she's barraged with fear and uncertainty on the inside. After what happened in the past, she can never bring herself to trust or become close to another person, and no matter how kind and loyal she acts to them, she will never fully bond with another person. She does, however, have a deep kinship with Pokemon, which she view as creatures free from the wickedness that some humans possess. She can't stand to see any Pokemon abandoned and alone, and will seek out a good home for any she comes across if she can't add it to her own pack. She especially feels close to canine Pokemon.
~*Strengths*~
Bravery: Though she may not entirely be sure of herself on the inside, she will always go through with any risks she takes around other people, even if it means highly doubting herself.
Kindness: Amber will never be rude to anyone unless they are rude to her first. This ties into her 'eye for an eye' attitude.
Common Sense: Though not the smartest intellect-wise, Amber has a keen grasp on common sense, and it has helped her in tight situations many times.
Natural Trainer: Amber always feels natural and calm around Pokemon. She's good at reading their body language and attitudes, and does her best to be kind to all Pokemon. She's appreciative of her pack, and will do everything for them.
~*Weaknesses*~
Distrust: Amber is highly distrusting of people, and will never form a bond like most friends will. She's also outcast from most people because of this.
Loneliness: Tying in with the first weakness, Amber always feels alone and outcast from other people. Because of this, she focuses even more on her Pokemon.
Fear: Amber is fearful of many things, even if the fear doesn't show on the surface. She's always internally wrestling with herself in frightening situations, and it takes a toll.
~*Striving Goal*~
Amber wants to make something of herself. She wants to be recognised for something, and has striven to become Champion of a region one day. She also wants enough opportunity to travel to every region and live a fufilling life.
~*Greatest Fear*~
Amber's greatest fear is dying alone. She has lived her life in solitude, and though she acts as if she embraces it, in the depths of her mind, she hates it. She's convinced that this is an inevadable fate, even with her beloved pack by her side.
~*Battle Style*~
Amber battles depending on the strengths and weaknesses of the Pokemon she's using. In general, though, she prefers quick and accurate attacks to defensive or status inducing moves. Because she specialises in canines, she tends to lean toward moves using tooth and claw, but will focus on long rage attacks if physical moves aren't cutting it.
Path of Origins
History Pt. 1:
Upbringing
Amber was born in a miserable, dreary scene. Rain was pouring onto the thin glass window beside the hospital bed, and the only sound louder than her mother's painful labor was the occasional roll of thunder accompanying the frequent cracks of lightening. The mood inside wasn't any better, it was late, and this would be the last delivery before the nameless, brief memory of a doctor could go home to his own family. His mind was too preoccupied with this to think of the family he was bringing into the world at the moment. The only tragedy in this is that the family was incomplete. While the mother was busy bringing their firstborn daughter into the world, the father was fighting in the great War, and unable to see his wife and newborn daughter back home.
The nurse's notes recalled how Amber barely cried, which is very unusual for a newborn. It was especially so, as she sat silently cradled in her mother's arms, who was suffered from the toll the birthing had taken. Hours later, her mother's battle was lost, and she died with her now lifeless eyes focused on the baby she now would never nurture and raise. Amber was left alone with nothing but an absentminded doctor, a concerned nurse, and a father oceans away, fighting a war unaware that he will never see the love of his life again.
Upon hearing the news, Amber's father was devastated. They allowed him discharge to be with his daughter once the day's fighting was over, but he was just too overcome with grief. He let himself die with honor that day, killed by his enemies while on a raid. Some called him reckless but heroic in his actions, he saved the lives of two troops that day, while others knew just why he had been like that. He had no intention of leaving the raid alive, and he got just what he wanted. His only regret is that he would never see his daughter before he bid his final farewell.
After the deaths of her parents, Amber was passed around the family of family, neither of her parents were close to any of their own families, until it was decided that she would be put into foster care. Amber, who was only 9 at the time, saw this as exciting: traveling from family to family until one of them decided to make her a part of them permanently. She had always craved some family attention, having never had a chance to meet her own mom and dad. The only remnant of the life she could have had was a pair of dog tags, her father's, that were given to her at his funeral. She had kept them as a baby and up to her kid ages, another reminder that she wouldn't have the typical life of a kid.
It only took a month in the foster system to discover what a horrible place it was for Amber. Most of the parents cared more for they pay they were getting than the kids themselves, and it was a battle every day just to get basic necessities. It was this experience that taught Amber to fend for herself and shove pity aside. Most of the sly kids would prey on the basic instinct of pity and take all that the poor, kind soul had. There were the more honorable ones, though, that gave as much as they were given, and returned favor with favor. Amber quickly developed into one of these kids.
After four years in the system, Amber's life was on autopilot. She went about her day in a constant routine, and had almost given up on ever getting a shot at life. Then, as quickly as her life had gone into a downward spiral, everything changed for the better: she was put into a permanent home.
At first, her new family and new life seemed perfect: like the sort of family you'd see on Sunday morning TV, smiling and waving without a care in the world. The mother was stay-at-home and fair, treating even Amber like her own daughter. The father was a hard working man who found time with his family through his busy schedule. The only exception to the 'beautiful family' persona would be Amber's 'sister', the couple's biological daughter.
Her name was Kimberly, Kim for short, and she happened to become the bane of Amber's existence. She was the complete opposite of Amber's give and take attitude, she had a strict take and take some more policy, and anyone who got in the way of her getting what she wanted was taken care of until they learn their lesson or are no longer a liability. While some say opposites attract, in this case, they did not. They collided, locked within a conflict that left Amber without direction and on her own for the rest of her life.
It all started when Amber had lived with her new family for about a year. She adjusted well, and learned quickly to avoid Kim, whom went out of her way to torment and make Amber's own life miserable. Amber didn't mind this much, after all she was used to that sort of approach from her foster days, but it all spiraled out of control with one simple catalyst.
One day, Amber's new parents, brought the youth a gift: an adopted Growlithe, rescued from the shelter nearby. They told her that if she showed good responsibility toward the Pokemon, that she could keep the canine that seemed to have been in a situation so similar to Amber's own. The only problem was that Kim, the natural and selfish child, was not given a Pokemon.
Amber was immensely happy with her new friend, so much so that her usual keen mind for detail was warped, and she didn't realize the spite that radiated off of Kim. No, she was too busy taking care of her new pal, whom she named Crimson. In the days that followed, Amber's happiness started to grow, as did Kim's spite. This all reached a breaking point one dreary and rainy afternoon. Usually these sorts of weathers have never boded well for Amber in the past.
After school one day, the young Amber came home to discover that her loyal pal, whom had waited at the door for her return from the day that she had gotten him, wasn't sitting eagerly awaiting Amber's attention as norm. Instead, what awaited her was Kim, with a wicked and twisted grin on her face... as well as a bloodied and limp arm. When her parents entered the room, the spitting image of evil itself, at least to Amber, was replaced with that of sorrow and pain. 'There she i-is, M-Mom,' Kim strangely choked out in between tears, 'S-She sent h-her Growlithe to a-attack me!'
Realization then dawned on Amber as to what Kim had done. If she couldn't have something, then no one could. They'd have to take the fall to be sure that it wouldn't happen again, too. She begged and pleaded to her parent to hear her case, but no matter what she said, they didn't believe that their 'perfect angel of a daughter' would go through such lengths to frame Amber. Soon enough, Amber became the problem child in their eyes, and not only was the Growlithe sent back to the shelter, they never trusted their adopted daughter again, thinking her a monster that burrowed into their lives under a false goodness.
Because of this, two days later, Amber left out of her window and away from her adopted family, never looking back or thinking of them again. For all she cared, they could disappear. It wasn't Amber's pride or reputation that was hurt, she just couldn't believe or stand people that would give away an innocent Pokemon that was thought to only be obeying the will of the owner. If only they knew what it was like to live in such conditions...
History Pt. 2:
The Pack
It didn't take long for Amber, living on her own, to realize just what she was missing in the world. She was traveling from town to town, staying in the Pokemon Centers that offered free food and housing overnight, and not having to worry about the roots she had set down before. Her typical life of going to school, doing homework, and being like every other non-trainer teen had been hiding the truly adventurous and free girl within her.
She didn't miss anyone, not her few friends, the people she commonly encountered, and least of all the family she had finally left behind without any parting word or hint. In fact, the only thing she did miss was her loyal canine Pokemon, whom she had sought out but never found. This left her with a hole in her heart that only another Pokemon could fill, but no matter how many times she thought of a new companion and friend of a Pokemon, she pushed the thought away. There wasn't any way that her first bond with Crimson could be replaced.
It was on one of her stops at the crowded Nimbasa Fair that Amber first encountered the Pokemon that would claim her heart and change her mind forever. At the time, she had picked up a part-time job at a vendor in order to make some spare money to fund a trip to Sinnoh, and was working until the annual Summer crowd died down. It was one evening, as she was packing the stand up when a skinny and sickly Tenebris dashed out from a nearby alley, jumped onto the counter of her concession stand, and swiped a neatly wrapped pretzel from the open heater Amber was emptying. Then, with a flick of its tail as it turned, it was gone, disappearing down the alley.
Amber had been warned of wild Pokemon that waited out stands in order to steal food, but she had never really worried about it. Though her boss wasn't the friendlies person, and she knew that even a small loss of food could mean a loss of a job. Sighing, Amber packed everything up and ran down the alley in search of the thief. Luckily for her, the one the Tenebris decided to dash down happened to be a dead end. It was too busy eating the pretzel at its feet to notice Amber silently approaching, and with a dive, the girl successfully wrapped her arms around the wolfish thief.
The Tenebris fought back, but for some reason, it had little strength compared to Amber's own. While pinning the Pokemon down, she glanced over to see the dirtied, half-eaten pretzel, sitting there, now useless. 'Great, at least I won't be the only one in trouble here' Amber had muttered, lifting the Pokemon as she got to her feet. She started to turn and head back to the stand when the small and pitiful yelp from the Pokemon she was holding stopped her. Giving it a long look for the first time, Amber couldn't help but notice the defined rib bones of the poor Pokemon, and the matted fur. This Pokemon was obviously not doing well. After seeing this, there was no way Amber could doom the thieving Pokemon into whatever her boss would do after discovering what it did. Sighing, Amber set it down, muttering at it to finish its meal before turning and leaving the alley. She would blame the missing food on her own hunger if it meant keeping the Pokemon safe.
That next morning, Amber's fears came to light. After taking the blame and saying that she had eaten the missing stock, she was promptly fired. Luckily, though, she still received the pay for the work she had done (minus the cost of a couple pretzels that her boss had taken from it), and it was just enough for a trip to Sinnoh. As Amber was leaving, she had the strange feeling of being followed, and as she turned, she noticed the Tenebris from the night before calmly tagging along at her feet as if were the most normal thing in the world. Cracking a grin, Amber smiled toward the skinny wolf Pokemon and continued walking. Her journey was no longer in solitude.
A week later when their boat landed in the shores of Canalave City, Amber and her new companion, whom she had named Amethyst and officially caught once she got her hands on a Pokeball, took off toward the mountains of Sinnoh. The two had definitely changed along the course of their time together. Amber still felt the loss of her first companion, but had formed a new, strong companionship with Amethyst, whom now was healthy as can be. They were still wanderers at heart, and that wandering took them to the heights of Mt. Coronet, unfortunately for them, it also brought them into a snowstorm that nearly killed them, if it weren't for the small pack of two that narrowly saved them.
The snow descended on the pair the moment they stepped foot out of the shelter of the rising forest. Before they could even turn around to look for shelter, the land around them turned completely white with hail and snow, enough to disorientate even Amethyst, and cause them to stumble even deeper into the storm. They fought against it for as long as they could, but Amber, without a dense coat of fur to keep warm, succumbed to the frozen air and lost consciousness, leaving only Amethyst to cry for her trainer to get up and continue on. Eventually, her cries grew faint and weak, and she too fell victim to unconsciousness.
The pair woke up hours later in an odd blanket of warmth. Amber was the first to do so, and quickly noticed the sheltered burrow of snow built around her, effectively keeping the blizzard out and the warmth in. Thinking that Amethyst had somehow managed to bury them in shelter, she turned to check on her loyal companion, only to see two more Pokemon pressing against her, keeping the Tenebris warm while she slept. One of them, a Poochyena, turned to regard Amber, and gave a soft bark of greeting. The other Pokemon, a Buzoke, stirred and regarded Amber as well, giving a soft wag of her tail to acknowledged the trainer.
After waiting out the storm in the shelter Amber and her partner found herself in, another bond was formed while in confides with the other canines. They seemed to accept the trainer and fellow wolf as kin, and she them. After they collapsed their shelter, instead of farewells, the small pack of four left the mountainside together, each finding comfort in being with the others.
After their shared experience of survival, the true pack was formed. It was at this time Amber finally decided that the true Pokemon for her were the type that were so loyal and true that they'd risk their own safety to protect and save total strangers. The type of Pokemon that formed the bonds of kin and partners, not just of human and Pokemon. She would form a pack of the canines she'd come to love. Even if none could replace her first friend and partner, all could be just as good, finding their way into Amber's heart just as Crimson had.
Amber has vowed to grow her pack and look out for the well-being of any Pokemon in need, just as she and Amethyst had been. She would help anyone in trouble, just as the newly named Ash and Azure had, and make something of herself. She'd show her tormentor who truly came out on top. She'd do great things with her pack by her side. Nothing could stop them now!

Character Notes
Amber isn't fond of both keeping her Pokemon in Pokeballs as well as storing them in the PC system. If she catches more than 6 Pokemon, she won't store them in the PC, but will rather keep all of her Pokemon on her person.
She will only catch canine Pokemon, or Pokemon that could resemble canines such as vulpines (foxes) and Pokemon like Absol and Riolu/Lucario, which somewhat can resemble one.
She will act cold or hostile toward those she hasn't met. She can also have a harsh sarcastic toungue while irritated, so you have been warned if you find your character traveling with her.
She prefers her Pokemon to be quadruped. Even though she may catch typically bipedal Pokemon, such as Riolu or Zoroark, she would still prefer quadrupeds. If it can be avoided, she will refrain from evolving certain Pokemon that become bipedal, such as Fennekin and Zorua.
If a Pokemon is determined and adamant about Amber becoming her trainer, she will not refuse it. This became apparent when Carnation, her Skitty, joined the Pack when the little kitty wouldn't take no for an answer.
