Damien exited the Pokemon Tower in Lavender Town, after a long day of work. Sweeping up the litter and trash from visitors who wished to pay the respects to their dead ones was certainly no easy task, and the atmopshere of those that frequented the building wasn't exactly uplifting. At the exit of the building, Damien saw children running off with gravestones, a complete defilement of the honorable dead.
Feeling enraged at this sense of societal disregard and injustice, Damien marched into the Pokemon Tower, and quit. He simply looked his boss in the eyes, stated " I'm done here ", and left. As he left the Pokemon Tower for the second time, Damien released his Absol, immediately stroking his glossy white fur. As Absol proudly followed in Damien's footsteps, they walked out of Lavender Town onto the route towards the city of Saffron, hoping to encounter some pokemon along the way.
Damien didn't get far before a trainer stepped out. He looked like he was some sort of thug biker, a low life scum for sure in his eyes. After all, Damien was a citizen, ex militia who did honest work. This guy just looked like he threatened little kids for their money. Which was probably true. Then again, Damien himself didn't exactly look like an upstanding person himself.
"Hey there, punk. You lookin' for trouble?" The man asked in a gruff voice. He chuckled a bit. "Well it doesn't matter either way, 'cause you found it. I'm the baddest around here, And I'll prove it to ya." He tossed a pokeball of his in the air, catching it repeatedly as he talked. "Go, Grimer!" He called. Throwing the pokeball out, it popped open to reveal the sludge Pokémon, Grimer. "I challenge you to a battle!"
Biker Christian wants to battle! Biker Christian sent out Grimer! Grimer, male Level 10.
Damien chuckles, and attempts to stare down the biker thug. He starts to smile as he views the trainer for what he really is- a punk who tries to get away with easy fights. The thought of pounding this man's pokemon into submission brought a smile onto Damien's face.
" You're just a common thug, nothing better than a criminal. Prepare to feel justice theough my own hands, and the horns of my Absol.", Damien muttered to his adversary.
" I accept this battle, but don't expect it to last long.Go, Scythe!", Damien flung his Absol onto the battlefield, landing in front of the foe's Grimer. Scythe immidiately prepared itself into battle position, and glared at the Grimer.
" Scythe, let's use the battle types to our advantage! He's poison, so if you use your bug type move, this should give us the advantage. In other words- Scythe, megahorn!", Damien roared to the battlefield."
Scythe uses the move megahorn towards the enemy Grimer.
"Grimer, use harden!" The biker commanded, seeing the Absol rush his partner. With a gurgled noise, the grimer's body suddenly became rock hard at the moment of impact, lessening the damage taken. Of course, it still clearly hurt the Pokémon quite a bit as it was super effective. The biker merely wondered if Absol would become poisoned through Grimer's ability...Poison Touch.
As Absol leaped back into standard position, he started shuddering in pain. Damien looked at him with worried eyes, but the expression didn't last long. Within moments, they turned into eyes filled with resolve to beat the scoundrel who would dare try to hurt his partner.
" Scythe, hang in there. Use megahorn again, good luck!" Damien yelled out to his Absol, encouraging him to attack the Grimer. Absol leaped up again, and dashed straight towards Grimer, his horn extended. Scythe attempted to use megahorn on Grimer!
"Dissolve!" The biker commanded with a swipe of his hand. The grimer seemed to melt down into a puddle of goop, Absol passing right over and missing its target. "Now, Poison gas!" The grimer was quick to comply. It reformed, taking its amorphous form once again before opening its 'mouth'. A toxic and nauseating gas soilled from it, the smell horrendously gag inducing. "Hehe, see how ya like dem apples!" The biker jeered, as the cloud of poison spread around the field.
With Absol already posioned from poison touch, it didn't do extra damage. However, Scythe took a decent amount of damage from the poison! Scythe looked like he was in pain from two turns of poison, and Damen also looked concerned.
" Scythe, hang in there! Use hyperbeam!" Damien roared to the battlefield.
Scythe nodded, and unleashed an immense beam of energy straight towards the enemy Grimer!
Now convinced that the target was thoroughly poisoned, the Biker thought he had his opponent beaten. "Alright Grimer, let's fini- WHAT?!" he cried, seeing Absol straighten up, and launch a powerful beam. "HARDEN NOW!!" He shouted desperately, but the beam went right through Grimer's defenses, throwing him back into Christian's face with a SPLAT!
Flopping to the ground, the mass of blobby-ooze was clearly knocked unconscious. "G-Grimer...No way!" The biker stuttered nervously. He glanced up, glasses sliding down his nose to reveal the panic in his eyes. "Grimer, return!" he called, returning the blob to its ball, before taking off down the road. He seemed to have dropped some cash in his escape. Even so, the poison seemed to still be sapping away Absol's energy.
Grimer fainted! Absol gained 10 EXP! Damien picked up $300!
" Absol, return!", Damien desperately cried out. He desperately threw Scythe's pokeball at Scythe, pocketed it, and started sprinting towards the pokemon center in Lavender City.
Damien stroked the pokeball in his pocket, repeatedly murmuring, " Everything will be all right ", while heading towards the pokemon center. As soon as he reached the center, he tossed the Scythe's pokeball to the nearest nurse, and nodded.
The nurse could tell Damien was a bit desperate, and so quickly put the ball into the machine, where its health was monitored and analyzed as it was healed. "It'll just be a bit, would you like something to drink while you wait?" she asked, bringing over a hot cup of cocoa for the man. Several minutes later, the machine dinged and printed out a full report. "Oh my, it looks like your Pokemon was very badly poisoned. You should really be careful out there, but fortunately he's okay and all better now!" Joy said in her usual cheery, yet caring tone. She handed the ball back to Damien, so that he may continue his journey.
Damien picked the cup of cocoa, and gulped it all down in one swing. Putting it down on the table, he then put back Scythe back in his waist utility chain.
" Thank you for the nourishment and the healing, what would us trainers do without you. He was poisoned from a trainer battle, but at least he won!", Damien flashed a grin at the nurse, and left the building. Damien then started towards the route of Saffron City, looking for any wild pokemon on the way, and trying to avoid trainer battles.
A rustling from nearby grass began, a Pokemon was near. Eyes peered out, followed by a low growl. Exiting the brush, an orange and tan dog like Pokemon emerged. He barked a couple times, trying to seem aggressive though came across more puppy-like. It looked like he was ready to battle!
Damien grinned, and whipped out his pokeball from his chain belt, and flung it on to the ground.
" Go, Scythe!", Damien roared to the battlefield, as his Absol emerged on to the floor. Its glossy fur was as beautiful as ever, and its wounds had been completely healed due to the Pokemon Center.
" All right Scythe. Let's try out this combo, don't know if it's going to work" Damien muttered to Scythe.
" First, use the movement speed of quick attack to gain momentum and attack first. Then, while using the momentum from quick attack, cancel it and instead use scratch. If all goes as planned, the scratch should be a critical hit!", Damien once against muttered to Scythe.
Scythe nodded, and had a hardened look in his eyes! Scythe dashed towards the Growlithe using quick attack, but two inches away from the Growlithe, switched to scratch!
Growlithe watched as Absol approached carefully. Watching its paw raise for scratch, Growlithe jumped back. There was always going to be a momentum shift when changing like that. That didn't mean Growlithe was safe, however. Absol's claws still raked across his fore paws, clearly stinging as the Growlithe winced as it tried to alternate paws to "walk it off".
Irate now, Growlithe glared at Absol. His eyes narrowed, shooting an intimidating glance at his foe. The sharp eyes were a dead giveaway at the current strategy of the wild puppy. He was attempting to lower his foe's defenses! Growlithe used Leer!
Absol looked at Growlithe straight in the eye, not flinching as his defenses fell. Scythe looked at Damien in helplessness, and Damien knew what he had to do.
" Scythe, use your hyperbeam! I don't want a stupid fire puppy, all I need is you. ", Damien muttered to Scythe.
Scythe nodded, and unleashed hyperbeam on the Growlithe!
Growlithe saw the beam charge up, using the opportunity to get out of the way. He dug underground swiftly, the beam singing the tip of his tail. It was a close call for Growlithe, but now Absol would need to rest. This was Growlithe's opportunity. He dug underground, rushing up from beneath Absol to attack! Growlithe used Dig
The ball clicked in contact, absorbing the Pokémon. It rocked once...twice...then burst open! Growlithe broke free from the pokeball, it still had too much fight to be caught just yet. Growlithe opened his mouth, small flames pouring from it aimed at Absol. Growlithe used Ember!
