Personality:
Jake isn't the most sociable to humans. Although he can be caring to others if he grows close to them. Jake is extremely shy and sometimes timid. Most of his old peers said he was too much of a chicken to be a chicken, but they were wrong. Jake can be courageous when he needs to and/or wants to.

Ever since he enrolled in Trainers' School, he's been interested in regions other than Unova. He has an extreme fascination about Pokémon. He hates thieves and abusive people and Pokémon. His goal is to discover all types of Pokémon and explore the world he lives in. Jake actually fears other humans due to being constantly bullied in his youth and keeps quiet around those he doesn't trust/know well.

Even though he is an explorer, Jake is sometimes cowardly. If faced with danger he cannot fight against (such as an avalanche, cave in, a powerful trainer etc.) he will flee. And due to the need to run as a child, he is a very fast person. Jake shows love and compassion to his pokemon and after a fight, he will find some way to heal them if they are hurt in any way. When it comes to trainers, he treats them with respect after, before, and during a battle, whether he wins or loses.

Battle Style:
Jake isn't one to make complex plans. He doesn't battle defensively either. He'd rather attack the opponent with all he's got. Jake believes that offense is the best defense. When in battle, he only tells his pokemon what to do and doesn't speak to the trainer. Using the battlefield and types to his advantage is what he's all about. If the types and/or battlefield isn't helpful to him, he'll just go all out or start playing defensively. He'd even come up with a plan if faced with such a predicament.

Past Experience / History:
Jake was born on April 21st to a single mother. His mother was an explorer and she was often out of the house. Jake was always stuck with babysitters for days, weeks, and sometimes even months. When he was young, it was pretty rare for him to see his mother. And when he did get to see her, she'd sometimes leave within a couple days. But his childhood was never terrible. Although he didn't get to see his mother often, his babysitters were kind and took the place of his mom.

When he was 5, his mother took him along on a trip to Kalos. The boy noticed how the pokemon looked different there than in Unova. For a bit it bothered him, but as a couple months passed, instead of pestering him, it interested him. He asked his mother why had the pokemon looked different and she explained that there were different species of pokemon in each region. Jake's mother took him with her in her adventures in Kalos. It all mystified him.

A year later, they returned to Unova. Jake's mother began to spend more time with him. His mother noticed that he tried to draw the pokemon he saw passing by and even pokemon he saw in Kalos. As a response, his mother had him take art classes and for a while, he wanted to be an artist. However, at age 9, Jake learned about battling and the bonds trainers had with their pokemon. He then had a change of dreams to be a pokemon trainer.

Do to his yearning to be a pokemon trainer and learn about the creatures his mother took him to Trainers' School in Stritian City on his 10th birthday. His time there was less than pleasant and throughout the years, his peers taunted and bullied him due to his bad grades. They teased him for his looks so at age 12 he dyed his hair from blonde to ginger.

At age 13, he had barely passed the school. His mother had given him a Cyndaquil as a reward and he named it Oswald. Although for a long time Oswald refused to go along with Jake. It wasn't until Jake was 15 when Oswald began to warm up to Jake. At age 15, a member of Team Rocket tried to steal Jake's pokemon. The robber failed due to Jake convincing Oswald to listen to him and attack the enemy. Ever since then Oswald has listened to Jake when it comes to fights.

At age 16, Jake talked to his mother about going off on an adventure. He explained that he wanted to explore the world with his Pokémon. His mother agreed although she said that she wanted to him to leave when he was 17, believing he was not yet ready. They spent the rest of that year to come up with the money and supplies needed. When Jake turned 17, his mother gave him an egg as a going away present. And the egg soon hatched into a Maractus which he named Mary.

Unlike most Cyndaquils, Oswald isn't in the slightest bit timid or shy. Oswald is always full of energy and ready for battle. Although he usually keeps his flames low as not to cause a fire. Oswald does his own thing until it's time to battle. Only then will he obey his master unless they are in danger.

Mary is a very cheerful pokemon. She loves to clown around and does anything to make her master happy. Although most Maractus like to sing and dance to drive away predators, Mary also likes to do it for fun. She is prepared for battle, although she does not enjoy fighting.
