The water, the sky and the tongue. [Mod] 185px-HeartGold_SoulSilver_Misty
It was a beautiful day within Cerulean City, the air felt clean and the sleep within the pokemon centre was one of the best night sleeps the three had ever had, Havign recently aquired a new member to their team, Lunar, Tung and the new comer Air had under went some training. After beating Brock and obtaining their very first gym badge, Lunar and Tung had began to train. Upon waking up in the hospital Lunar had came to find her Lickitung had not only carried her to the hospital as usual with most of their training, but had also evolved in to the powerful and unique looking Lickilicky. They had then came to cerulean city to challenge Misty, judging by the information they had gathered she was a water type trainer. They had intended to actually already challenge her the first day they arrived but soon fate had intervened and they ended up doing battle with a beautiful and powerful Pidgeotto. Pidgeotto was a beautiful pokemon whom had been angered when young ones of her kind had been hurt, She attacked Lunar and her pokemon believing them to be the culprit but it had not been. Lunar had the ability to talk to normal type pokemon so as soon as the Pidgeys were awake, nurse joy was going to call her so that she could obtain information. Pidgeotto had then agreed to come with them on their journey and Lunar had nicknamed her Air. Air and Lunar spent the next day training and getting to know one another. Unlike normal Pidgeotto, Air was slightly bigger well a bit bigger coming in at 5" 3 allowing for her to be ridden by the young girl without looking foolish. She had flew with her pokemon the day before. It was beautiful. They shared moments even dealing with a bully known as Fearow. The bond they had was strong, even if they had only just begun to understand one another.

Anyway, now the three stood outside the gym, neither pokemon within the balls they should call home, both by the side of the female. The pink pokemon upon the right and the bird upon the left. Nodding to each Lunar would open the door of the Cerulean gym and look out in wonder. IT WAS A GIANT MOTHERFUCKING SWIMMING POOL. Lunar loved to swim. So did tung, Air didn't look to impressed but well she could fly, who would want to swim when one could soar through the sky. Curbing her enthusiasm she would make her way through the gym until she came to the female whom would be known as Misty. "Uhm, he hello, my names Lunar Knight, and um Air, Tung and i would like to challenge the gym leader" the female would ask, her boulder badge shining gently upon her tie. She would do this.

The previous badge is pinned onto her tie like a pirate hoisting the bodiless head of a beheaded enemy upon the mast of his ship... intimidating.. The gym leader stared at the trainer, perfectly hiding her nervousness and doubt behind a cheery smile which would seem to invite the challenger to battle fearlessly. Recalling the recent events which had gotten her into much trouble, Misty was well aware of the consequences she would have to accept if she had decided to break some rules again and had decided against doing so in her better judgment. Then again, she did have access to the same species of Pokemon she was most efficient with in gym battles and perhaps she stood a chance. She wasn't remarkably smart unlike trainers she had recently had the privilege of engaging in battle with and as such would be unable to make accurate derivations from the data given to her unlike them. For instance, she had not questioned how the challenger would have beat Brock like a clever trainer would have to get a better idea on how the trainer would function in battle. Instead, she merely smirked and heaved a sole capsule from which emerged a Staryu.

An overconfident smile upon her face, she would remain speechless and merely gesture for her opponent to make the first move as was regarded customary.

Lunar was in awe of the battlefield, a large pool that allowed large circular floats to drift upon the top of it. She could not see the bottom of the clear water and wondered how deep it actually went. Taking her position at one side of the large watery field, she had to decide exactly which pokemon she wanted to use in battle. In this form of field it would be unwise to use Lickylicki with the battle field being made of water, she was unsure if the floats would hold the pink pokemons weight. Though she did have an advantage in that she knew its move pool would allow for some interesting combinations. Air on the other hand could fly but if the staryu made spectacular use of the water then it would be unable to land any hits while the staryu could attack freely. Looking at misty she would smile. "Thank you for accepting, your really pretty, before i challenged brock i didn't know what kind of trainer i wanted to be. Now im starting to get an idea, so help me make my decision" she would say. her innocent voice becoming determined.

"air, your staying behind, Tung, go" she would say. The pink pokemon would nod while the Pidgeotto would glide gently from its shoulder to sit beside her trainer showing how big the Pidgeotto was in comparison to the trainer and others of its species. Lunar would watch her pokemon jump on to the first float, it stumbled a little but recovered taking its battle pose. "Ok, Tung, lets play this safe, we haven't used a battle field like this before" she would say. "Don't worry, just make sure when this is over we gte lots of food right?" Tung would reply. Ever since evolving its appetite had grew. A smile slid across Lunar's face, though of course Misty would be unable to understand the evolved Lickitung. Air on the other hand would chirp gently in a laugh. The bond between these three was strong. her family were fighting for her. She would not lose. "TUNG, SUPERSONIC" she would shout to her pokemon. Why use such a low accuracy move? she had moves like thunderbolt which could effectively one hit k.o the water type, simple she did not wish to reveal her move pool. Misty wouldnt be able to guess its move pool from listing tms, Lickylicki could learn so many and of course it came down to Lunar who could afford Tms, could she afford a lot of them? she didn't look wealthy. Anyway, from the mouth of the pokemon rings of yellow would shoot forth aiming to entice the Staryu.

[Since my connection is quite slow and my laptop even more so I shall not go through the trouble of providing you with the data of the Pokemon you are facing as you had done in my thread, but I will have you know that the Pokemon are in fixed game levels (as of fr/lg), will provide you with exp equivalent to them should you beat them and will also have fixed move pools as they did in the game and not be unnecessarily tedious for I do not feel the need to make this thread longer than need be. -exhale- Keep in mind things would have been different had you come ill prepared, or if I had not been happy in general lately.

Misty frowned and a clearly disappointed expression can be seen upon her face as the Supersonic was sent towards her Pokemon for she had expected a more intimidating advance from the trainer who she had thought seemed experienced. The attack's trajectory swayed and made it quite easy for the Staryu to simply move itself towards the other direction on Misty's command, and the maneuver would result in the complete evasion of the low accuracy move which had intended to confuse the Pokemon. Perhaps she was testing the waters.. As soon as the attack missed, the gym leader would give the order and her obedient Staryu immediately acted to make high pitch noises which were followed by the manifestation of rings of water that propelled themselves at the Lickitung. The tomboyish mermaid, as she was called, was renowned for her all out attack tactics with her water type Pokemon and staying true to her name, she had decided to order her Pokemon to use Water Pulse to attack the opponent early.

It seemed her plan had failed, she was hoping that the Staryu would have descended in to the water, but instead it simply moved to another of the floatation devices. Its move would be water pulse and the female trainer of the Lickilicky would have to act. It would be simple to halt the move, "Ice Beam" Lunar would order. Withdrawing its tongue the Lickilicky would allow frozen particles to gather before being released in a beautiful snow white beam. The attack would connect with the water pulse and instantly freeze the attack halting its progress while at the same time freezing the entire battle field. A miscalculation on Lunars part whom had been hoping the Staryu would use the water. Now Lickilicky would be able to move at least a little better on top of the ice. But Lunar would simply have it remain in the same spot. "Solar Beam" she uttered. Upon the command being given, the pink pokemon would begin to pull sunlight particles from all around it. Charging the grass attack.

It would seem that Lunar Knight had overestimated the capabilities of her Lickilicky for without the same type attack boost and high special attack, the ice beam was far from capable of freezing Staryu's boosted Water Pulse, let alone an entire pool right afterwards. The intervention provided by the Ice Beam did manage to cause the Water Pulse to dissipate from the impact but it had not frozen, and then the weakened Ice Beam proceeded to try and freeze the entire body of water only to fail for it had merely frozen the surface, and not enough to prevent the Staryu from diving in by simply stepping on the ice to crack it open. Misty would have it do just that. Within the same turn the Solar Beam had been charged, Misty ordered the Staryu to use Tackle! Cracking the ice open, the star shaped pokemon dove in hard and accelerated towards the opponent at an alarming speed under water, its movement completely free and unrestricted. In the same turn, the Staryu would leap back out and hurdle itself at Tung to try and strike it with tackle from a side, away from its mouth. It would happen in the same time for submerging itself in the water was merely a part of its advance.

She should have noticed that the pool was in fact heated,  if it had not been she would have easily been able to have her pokemon freeze the water.  This did not clarify why her pokemons ice beam did not freeze the technique the star used.  With the level difference and power difference in the two attacks and of course the fact that ice beam itself was colder than the natural freezing point of water it did confuse the female slightly.  Especially since it has been noted that pokemon of pre_evoloutions like Bungay could build massive and strong ice sculptors so freezing water should have been within the power of her pokemon.  Perhaps tung held back,  the light from the solar beam would continue to fly into the pink pokemon would reveal how weak the ice was and would submerge itself in the water.  The star would fly through the water and strike the pokemon, but getting close was silly for upon being struck the pink pokemon stood it's ground. At point blank range the staryu would need a miracle to avoid the shining solar beam that was fired in to the staryu

Pokemon like 'Bungay' only existed in the imagination of the challenger. An analogy can be used to vaguely explain what had transpired for an ice cube thrown into sea does not freeze. Furthermore, having sustained the impact from the Water Pulse, the attack would have been weakened before striking the heated pool. The attack has a low chance of freezing its target regardless. As for the Staryu, it had obediently launched itself at the attack and the reckless mannerisms on Misty's part will ultimately result in the Staryu's demise. The Solar Beam hit its target at a point blank range and knocked it out cold instantly. The fainted Pokemon crashed into the pool and flopped around violently, causing loud splashes as it bounced on the surface hitting at various angles before crashing into the platform on which its trainer stood. Misty's enthusiasm did not fray, for as soon as the Staryu returned to its capsule, a Starmie revealed itself from a different Pokeball.

It's not Staryu, it's Starmie! haha! Wasting no time, the hasty agitated gym leader ordered for the use of Water Pulse once again. The red gem on Starmie began to glow as it spun in place, shooting out rings of concentrated energy consisting of large volumes of water, accelerating at Tung rapidly gaining speed, attemtping to strike hard.

nodding at the change of pokemon, the young female would smile ever so gently as the Starmie unleashed its movement. "Ice beam directly below." she ordered. Upon its command the pokemon with the large tongue would release said beam, creating a pillar of ice rising steadily, the thick ice would take the strike from the water pulse yet the continuous stream of ice would be enough to repair the damage granted to the pillar. "THUNDERBOLT" she commanded yet again the female aiming to finish this battle quickly, aiming to halt the star with the thunderous move that had taken down the previous star like pokemon.
