Mitsuki vs. Brock

Tsuki stood in front of the first gym in the region. He was trembling out of fear and excitement.

"Dra dra dra dratinnnnnnnni!" [It's ok little brother. We will do great!] Shirai said nuzzling Tsuki's cheek.

"Right." Tsuki said.

He watched as he put one foot forward, then the next. Right, left, right, left.... Tsuki kept this pattern up until he bumped into a stone statue announcing winners of the gym.

"TINI!" [LOOK!]

Tsuki scanned the list and half way down was his father's name.

"Look Shirai, Dad was here and he won!" Tsuki said.

He was more determined than ever and started wandering the gym for the leader.

A few trainers had gathered in the rafters, most come to see the challengers lose to Pewter City's own Brock. The rafters soon filled to the brim with the news of a challengers arrival. The terrain was obviously in Brock's favor, the ground made completely of boulders and sharp rock platforms. Beside of those rock formations, it seemed not much was in the gym. It was painted a ocean blue, with rock textures on the wall. At first glance, you could definitely see how this was a hostile battle arena, trainers entering the gym had the bright light on them as soon as the battle began.
Battlefield:

Brock happened to be in the gym, and was just tending to his pokemon behind the scenes. Noticing his visitor, he quickly stood up from behind one of the rock formations. "Hello and welcome!" his voice boomed, echoing off of the arena. He spoke loudly and clearly so that any challenger could hear him across the empty space that was his gym. "My name is Brock, and I'm the Pewter City gym leader!" he continued. Brocks voice trailed at the end as he eyed the kid in front of him. He seemed frail, maybe he couldn't find his way to the rafters?
"I-I'm sorry, are you here for a battle?" Brock said with a very rare stutter, he had not want to insinuate that the kid wanted to battle.

Tsuki approached the opponent's box. He looked around the rafter and instantly felt sick. Shirai gently squeezed his waist as a hug.

Tsuki opened his mouth but no words came out. He tried three more times before forcing out in a small voice, "I am Mitsuki Barkhorn. My Sister and I have come to challange the Gym Leader."

Tsuki felt like he was going to vomit but thankfully didn't have anything in his system to expel.

Brock nodded as he looked on to the shy and quiet challenger. Brock could see that they were polar opposites he was bold loud and always made his presence felt. It seemed that Mitsuki was rather quiet and keep to himself, so for someone like him to come and challenge a gym like this took guts.
"Then a challenge you shall receive!" he say proudly as the pokemon that was hidden from plain sight came into the picture. It was a Geodude, glaring down Mitsuki and his Dratini. "Let us begin!"

Gym Leader Brock sends out Geodude!

The Geodude seemed to even smirk at the boy, underestimating him and his abilities.

Tsuki saw the weird Pokemon that looked like a boulder mixed with the arms of Arnold Schwarzenegger and retrieved Dexter from his coat pocket.

“Geodude, the Rock Pokémon. Geodude has incredibly high defensive power, making it virtually resistant to any physical attacks. Geodude is often found on mountain roads with half of its body buried in the ground so it can observe mountain travelers.”

“D-D-Dragon W-W-Wings pl-please guide us in b-battle! S-S-Scyther, I choose you!” Tsuki quietly stuttered as he through a pokeball.

The humanoid bug/flying type appeared on the field in a flash of light and waited for the signal.

“S-S-Scyther, Vac-Vac…” Tsuki’s voice caught from the nervousness he felt and stamped is foot. “Vac-cuume Wave!”

Scyther’s bladed glowed as not only the move powered up but so did the insect’s ability of Technician as well. Scyther released a wave of vacuumed air, that was 1.5 times the normal strength of a Vacuum Wave, towards the Geodude.

The compact wave of air shout out of the Scythers wings quickly, creating a puff of dust, shooting into the stands and rafters. Coughing could be heard from up in the rafters, many cheering as well at the amazing attack.

The dust began to settle, and the Geodude sat, untouched looking onward as the dust fell from the air down back onto the battle field. The attendees cheered, as the move had missed!

"Geodude, use tackle!" Brock commanded, his Geodude spinning in place before charging at the hovering bug pokemon. Hopping into the air at the end of its charge it hurled itself at Scyther!

Tsuki's voice chose the worst time to lock which didn't allow him to give Scyther the command to dodge. Geodude slammed into the praying mantis knocking him to the ground. Tsuki looked worried and tried to force his voice to work. Scyther was tough though and managed to get up.

Tsuki had a panicked look in his eyes. If he couldn't speak then how could he give orders to battle?

"DRATINI DRI NI!" [Scyther use Vacume Wave again!] Shirai's voice rang out through the gym.

"Scy!" Scyther nodded before charging another air attack causing Technician to activate once again.

Scyther sent it flying towards the rock/ground type.

This time the Geodude had not been prepared as he was baffled by the Dratini calling out a command to another pokemon! So when the next puff of vacuum powered air smashed into him he was no match. Once again, a puff of dust shot into the air causing more vision problems from the upper levels. With no doubt, the Geodude sat, fainted.

"Duuu...."the pokemon let out before getting returned by his owner.

"You did great Geodude." Brock said as he put the now fainted Pokemon's pokeball away. Looking up at the kid, he was no longer underestimating him and was now quite angry that he ever did. This kid was smart to use a fighting type move against a rock type, as it was super effective. With that he gave a light chuckle. "That was great, but I hope you can handle the second course!" he called out, tossing a old worn out pokeball into the air. With the flash and a bolt of light the gargantuan of a pokemon had emerged. Onix high, high enough that the people in the fans were at eye level. It let out a mighty roar, looking down upon its timid opponent.

Tsuki, though trembling at the Onix, quickly assessed the damage Scyther had received. Scyther looked ready to continue battling but he also looked incredibly tired.

"G-Good Job Scyther. Return!" Tsuki said in his usual quiet voice.

"S-S-Sissy I choose you!" Tsuki called.

Shirai unwrapped herself from Tsuki and bolted out towards the field.

"Shirai, Ex-Ex-Extreme Speed!" Tsuki said.

Shirai became a blur as she flung herself towards the massive Onix.

Mitsuki knew there was no way that a living giant like Onix could keep up with a small nimble Dratini. Even the on lookers struggled to see the pokemon, only being able to see the cloud of dust where it had taken off.

"Onix, use Slam Down!" Brock exclaimed as the small dragon came in, bracing for impact. Instead, it was met with a tail of boulder, being hit down into the ground. The attack shook the gym, causing the rafters to shake lightly. The cloud of debris and rock shards filled the area where the attack had taken place. Onix lifted it's tail, while also retreating backwards to survey the damage in which he had caused to not only the Gym, but the pokemon as well..

Mitsuki covered his face as the debris flew towards him. Coughing as dirt and dust settled in the back of his throat, Tsuki's voice finally unlocked due to the panic of his sister getting injured.

"SISSY!" Tsuki called out.

Shirai's attack had been blocked but the little dragon pokemon was tougher than the pink scales let on. "Dra!" [I'm ok!]

Tsuki breathed a sigh of relief. Shirai was alright.

"O-Ok Sissy, T-Twister!" Tsuki said in a soft voice thankful for the near psychic connection between Shirai and himself.

The tiny dragon pokemon charged her twister attack and launched it towards the opposing giant Ground/Rock pokemon.

The small pink dragon began to kick up a strong swirling vortex, heading straight toward the Onix. As it sped toward the hugs bundles of live rock, it began to gain momentum and even height.

"Onix, use Dig!" rock commanded, but was too late to start, and was struck hard by the heavy weight off the Twister. Taken aback, the huge Onix was obviously more hurt than he should of. It was a critical hit!

"Onix, use Rock Tomb, then dig underground!" Brock yelled, planning one step ahead. Onix began to haul rocks at the small pink dragon, then immediately going underground.[/color]

Tsuki watched as rocks hurtled towards his sister. The young trainer tried to tell his sister to dodge the incoming rocks but all that came out was a pitiful squeak. Tsuki knew that both Rock Tomb and Dig would result in serious injuries if the powered up moves connected.

Shirai dodged some of the falling rocks until a huge boulder landed on her tail trapping her in place.

Tsuki breathed a sigh of relief, thankful that Shirai wasn't hurt too badly. However, now the young doctor-in-training faced a new problem, Onix was now underground.

"Sissy, Return!" Tsuki squeaked.

Shirai started struggling to break free of the rock holding her in place.

Brock was thankful that the young trainer he was battling had not kept this pokemon in a ball. This battle would be over quickly if Onix could connect with his next .

"Onix, finish it off!" Brock yelled as the Onix came up, in a spectacle of debris and perfect formed spinning. The nose of the huge stone built beast rammed into the base of the small dragon, going all the way to the ceiling, almost slamming it into it. Letting the pokemon fall to the ground, the Onix trotted off in victory.

Shirai never stood a chance. The ground rumbled and split open as Onix's mighty head was burst forth from the ground slamming into Tsuki's twin. Shirai started to fall rapidly down to the earth after Onix dropped her.

"Sissy Return!" Tsuki called out quietly.

Shirai heard the order and used a very small twister to return to Tsuki's feet.

"Shirai! A-Are you alright?" Tsuki asked worried about his sister.

He was about to call off the match when Shirai started talking.

"Dritini Dra Dra!" [Don't give up! I'm ok call out Scyther.] Shirai said weakly.

"S-S-Scyther, V-Vacuum Wave!" Tsuki said weakly throwing the pokeball causing the Humanoid Bug pokemon to appear.

Scyther was already charging up his blade like hands when he was released. As the white light vanish, solidifying the bug-type, Scyther released the compressed air attack.

The Onix was still ready for a fight, but was not in a ready stance, as it had its back turned. It had expected the young frail child to give up and leave the gym. So when the Vacuum Wave smashed into the back of the Onix, it fainted on impact. It was a critical hit!

Brock grunted before returning his Onix. "That was a cheap shot!" he yelled, slightly annoyed at the rude kids tactic to attack when guard was down. Although, deep down, Brock knew it was his fault for assuming the kid was going to give up.

Brock sighed as reluctantly gave the young boy a shiny grey medal, cleverly molded into a rock shape.

"I present with to you, the Boulder badge. Wear it with pride!"

Brock gave Tsuki 4500

Tsuki blushed but reluctantly accepted the badge. He was in the presence of one of his heros. All the Kanto Pokemon Doctors knew about the Pokemon Breeder turned Doctor Gym leader. What Tsuki wouldn't give for just five minutes with this Gym Leader to learn about some of the medical tricks he had learned. However, Tsuki was too embarrassed to ask.

"S-Sorry for the cheap attack a-at the end." Tsuki said.

After pinning the badge to the inside of his coat, Tsuki thanked Scyther and Shirai, gave them both a Pokemon cookie and recalled Scyther back to his pokeball.
