Dahlia Jarrett Empty
PostSubject: Dahlia Jarrett   Dahlia Jarrett H6Q0F8zFri Mar 21, 2014 12:00 am

Name: Dahlia Rose Jarrett
Nickname: None, “Little Wild One” by her Grandmother
Age: Eighteen years old
Gender: Female
Rank: Breeder
Birthplace: Pewter City, Kanto
Battle Style: Dahlia likes speed. She prefers Pokemon that are fast and evasive, while lowering the foe’s accuracy when possible. Dahlia hasn’t had a lot of experience in battles, making her overly cautious. Most of her “battles” have come from chasing off wild Pokemon and thieves from her family’s sanctuary/farm.

Dahlia is 5’6” and weighs about 115lbs. She’s thin and fairly muscular, most of her height coming from her legs. Dahlia has pale skin and sunscreen is a must for her, being that she spends most her time outdoors. And the sun is evil. She has almond shaped, pale green eyes and long red/orange hair. She’s a pretty young woman, but not devastatingly beautiful. She rarely wears makeup, she rarely does anything with her hair other than brush it, and she rarely turns heads with her looks. Her attitude might turn some heads, but not her looks.
Dahlia wears a brown leather, water-proof cowboy hat with feathers tucked in it. She has an orange bandana around her neck that she likes to pull over the lower half of her face when things get windy or cold. A brown poncho is her top of choice, although she does wear a black, sleeveless, cropped, turtleneck shirt underneath it. But Dahlia prefers to keep cool by leave her midriff showing. Her worn, dark blue jeans tuck into her boots and she keeps her belongings in a cross-body bag that is deeper inside than it appears.

Personality: Dahlia is a very vulnerable, damaged girl who hides under a thick shell of confidence, charm and snark. Dahlia thinks about her Pokemon first, herself second, and pushes everyone else away so she doesn’t have anyone else to care about. Deep down, she wants to help others and will sometimes let that kindness shine through, but usually the hardened heart squishes that desire. Dahlia is charming, however, and is usually flirty or witty to most people she meets. Having no problem with being around people or talking to them, Dahlia just never wants to let them in. She will never speak of her past or her family and would sooner walk away. She looks out for herself and will almost never take part in anything that doesn’t benefit her.

Dahlia has dry sense of humor and can be very sarcastic when she wants. Her drawl can make the things she says come out sounding nicer or cuter than they are and she fully knows it. Dahlia is very aware of her charisma and isn’t afraid to use it to her gain. If someone can break her thick emotional protective barrier, Dahlia is very sweet and caring, almost a bit shy. She’s protective of what she loves and will do anything in her power to keep loved ones safe.

Sweets are Dahlia’s weakness, she’d eat a factory of chocolate if she could. She loves Pokemon deeply, every single one is important to her and she tries to befriend as many as she can. Dahlia has a particular soft spot for weak Pokemon, because she knows the potential that lies within each and every one, even if others don’t see it. Dahlia is a tomboy, she enjoys sports and action movies and dirt. A love for nature and the world around her was bred into her being and she would rather sit out under the stars than have a night on the town. Not to say she doesn’t occasionally like to be girly and shop and try on a dress, but overall she prefers to avoid materialism.

Dahlia hates anyone cruel or uncaring towards Pokemon. She hates seeing Pokemon raised without compassion or love. She hates talking about herself, preferring to deflect the subject or leave. She doesn’t like sour or bitter foods or anything with a mushy texture. She doesn’t typically like complicated clothing or anything overly frilly. While she tends to let rude comments or hurtful action roll off her back, in privet she’ll hang on to such things and let them bother her for a long time.

History: Dahlia’s story begins with her parents, a sweet farm boy who fell in love with a wild child, party girl. Her mother insisted it would never work, but her father was persistent, always telling her there was no one else for him and eventually the two got married. They moved to his family’s Pokemon sanctuary, the whole farm clothed in tranquility, they had the perfect life. But her mother was becoming increasingly unsure of the life she’d chosen, and after Dahlia was born uncertainty grew into hatred. She didn’t want a family, she didn’t want to be tied down, she wanted freedom. And one morning Dahlia’s father woke up blindsided to find his wife was gone.

As Dahlia grew older, her father grew more depressed. He loved her and tried to do as much as he could with her, but his broken heart and broken spirit got in the way of enjoying their time more and more. The girl loved her dad, he was her favorite person on earth and her idol. Dahlia’s grandparents lived on the sanctuary as well, and became increasingly involved in her life, as her father fell apart more and more.

Dahlia was eight years old when she got home from a day of playing with Pokemon to find her father slumped over on the bathroom floor along with an empty pill bottle, unmoving. The young girl dashed outside and hopped on to the first Pokemon she knew could run; Ponyta. Dahlia saved her father’s life that day, getting her grandparents who quickly got to the house and did what they could before medical help arrived. Her father was committed for psychiatric reasons, and her grandparents took over raising Dahlia.

Dahlia hardened her heart and shut away her love. Between the constant selling of the Pokemon she spent every day with, the lack of friends in the first place and her parents apparently not wanting anything to do with her, the sweet girl locked her heart of glass away behind steel doors. Metaphorically of course. She loved her grandparents dearly, but it wasn’t the same, especially the absence of her father. Dahlia put resentment in place of pain towards her parents.

When she turned fourteen, her grandparents gifted her with Ponyta, the one Pokemon they just couldn’t rip from her, and the greatest gift she’d ever received. Dahlia took on larger roles in the raising of her family’s Pokemon, learning all kinds of Poketreat recipes from her grandmother and learning how to take care of all types of Pokemon from her grandfather. While Dahlia was happy with her life, part of her began to want freedom, to get away from the place that reminded her of the gap in her heart.

When she was sixteen, her grandfather got sick and soon passed away. Ripping yet another piece out of her life, Dahlia turned to the Pokemon of the sanctuary for comfort, particularly Ponyta. Her grandmother called in relatives to run the farm with her and hired some additional help. On Dahlia’s eighteenth birthday, her grandmother told her to go and be free. “Yours is a spirit that longs to soar. You want so badly to see the world, who am I to keep a wild Fearow trapped in a cage for a Natu?” That was the last time Dahlia cried. She hugged her grandmother so tightly she thought she might hurt the woman, and she didn’t let go for a long, long time. Taking some provisions from home and promising to write back frequently, Dahlia took her Ponyta Gia and set out into the world. To see new Pokemon, experience new cities, escape the heartbreak that home reeked of and to let her caged spirit soar. That’s how the journey of Dahlia Jarrett began.
