Could we turn on the functionality of HTML in the forum settings?

I want to use an HTML code in a thread that would auto play a hidden music upon viewing it.

I've experienced too many forums where people have stuck huge images in their signatures. The result is that threads become clogged up with these images and it becomes more difficult to find/read the basic information presented in the thread. This is especially true when someone with a large signature contributes to a thread multiple times. So, rather than opening up the forum to those potential scenarios, you would disable this functionality all together. Obviously, this wouldn't be a big issue with the code I’m presenting, but sooner or later, it would make for one more thing to keep up with as the forum continues to grow and others were to modify their signatures.

Maybe the administrators could just give limits to how a person would use HTML code.

If a large image is posted or pasted within a user's signature, I believe there's a restriction already set in place for that when putting it in the signature, as well as a restriction on signature length. If not, there's always the requirement that all large images should be in spoilers, as there have been experiences with mobile devices where this either lags or makes the forum a bit funky.

I believe this question was asked before, and if I remember correctly, there was an answer about how HTML wasn't going to be re-enabled due to a threat previously. If you want more information, I'd contact Kaptain Ava [you can find her username in the staff widget] since she knows a bit more about it than I do.

No. We did have HTML, and it was a privelege allowed so long as everyone used it wisely. One person decided to use HTML to try and attack us and lock people out of their threads. One person can ruin it for everyone, and HTMLl was disabled for the sake of the site after that.

Least in my opinion, it should stay disabled.

In that case then I guess there's nothing that can be done. I guess you could delete this topic now.

Just want to point this out: images in spoilers still need to load, so it can still cause lag. I believe there's a way to restrict image size from the admin panel where it auto-resizes images (you can click on them to load the full size image).
