Brad Talon: Chapter 1: New Experience

A life of fighting for money. Bruise here, bloodied that. Dodge this, hurt that. Pain now, gain later. That's always been Brad's life. Underground fights have become too easy for him and the prize money made his life so easy. Brawling is too easy for him so he thought he'd experience a new chapter in his life. While still a brawler at heart, who says you can't try new things?

He's here in Nuvema, with the arrogant Hitmonlee his master gave him. They're bickering on who can kick the strongest and fastest. Brad has always been able to lash out swift and deadly kicks in those brawls. Wherever he wants it to hit, it hits. However, say that to Hitmonlee's arrogance and they're just a couple of minutes away from brawling against each other.

But they'll have to set that aside for now. Brad's inside Juniper's lab to get a Tepig. He's a Fighting-type Trainer and a Tepig would be a perfect choice from him. It evolves and gains a Fighting-type. So, it's still okay for him to take it. As long as it has Fighting.

Juniper was bustling around a bit, flustered. Scooping a hundred files off the table, and piling it in her hands as high as her chin, she was just passing when she caught sight of Brad. "Oh hello. Can I help you?" Her voice was slightly muffled as each breath blew a couple of papers to the ground. Each step was mincing, but not slow. Her looked slightly mussed and windblown, and coming a bit loose.

Quick-stepping along, she dumped the files on another table, excused herself for a second, and disappeared inside the depths of the lab.

If she hasn't picked the fallen papers up yet, Brad would pick them up and lay it beside the tower of papers. Her weakness over girls stroke him again. "Juniper's pretty," he said with a big smile. Hitmonlee looked at his trainer and glared. The Pokemon finds that side of Brad very annoying.

Juniper smiled, glad that he helped her. She didn't appear to hear what he had said. Smoothing out her coat and hair, she made sure she was presentable before turning to him. "Yes, how may I help you?" She asked sweetly as she reached for her spectacles.

OOC: Juniper wears glasses? o.0

IIC: Brad just stared at her with a huge smile. The stupidity of this habit is Brad's negative side. He can be annoying. This often creeps out other women. He's speechless, just smiling at him. Hitmonlee just glared again and crossed his arms in annoyance. Feeling a little bit shame by his trainer's action.

(No. But nothing wrong with reading glasses.)

Juniper half-turned to pick up some papers and spotted Brad staring and smiling widely. "Uhm...can I help you?" She repeated her question. She turned to see the pokeballs. "Perhaps you're one of the new trainers..." She bent sideways and spotted the Hitmonlee. "...or not...."

Hitmonlee totally got annoyed now and smacked the living bejeesus out of Brad's face with his hand. Brad returned back to his senses and rubbed his painful cheek. He responded with a fist to his Hitmonlee. The Pokemon tried to keep itself calm to not cause any mess in this laboratory.

"Erm, ah. Yeah. Well, I don't have the official Unova one. I'm pretty sure I can still get one," he said. Now acting very normal.

Juniper seemed shocked when the Hitmonlee randomly attacked it's trainer. She, in fact, jumped and dropped her spectacles. "Uhm...urm...sure..." She stuttered, scrambling to fetch the pokeballs.

As Juniper scrambled for those Poké Balls, Brad just waited and glared at his Hitmonlee. He's so gonna send a foot up this Pokémon's backside. Oh, two chaotic creatures meet.

"So uh, what do we have in store," asked Brad. Hoping Juniper would just shrug that awkward sight of smack a while ago.

"Here's Snivy, the grass pokemon." She pointed at the respective pokeball. "Oshawott, the water pokemon, and Tepig, the fire pokemon." She released each pokemon out for a better look.


Tepig : The Fire Pig Pokemon
It can deftly dodge its foe's attacks while shooting fireballs from its nose. It roasts berries before it eats them. When it catches a cold, the fire becomes pitch-black smoke instead. It loves to eat roasted berries, but sometimes it gets too excited and burns them to a crisp.


Snivy : The Grass Snake Pokemon
It is very intelligent and calm. Being exposed to lots of sunlight makes its movements swifter. They photosynthesize by bathing their tails in sunlight. When they are not feeling well, their tails droop. It uses vines more adeptly than its hands.


Oshawott : The Sea Otter Pokemon
It fights using the scalchop on its stomach. In response to an attack, it retaliates immediately by slashing. The scalchop on its stomach is made from the same element as claws. It detaches the scalchop for use as a blade. The scalchop on its stomach isn't just used for battle--it can be used to break open hard berries as well.

Brad looked at each Pokémon as they were sent out from a red laser and materialized to their physical form. The red pig thing, the royal-like green guy and the blue guy with freckle-like thing on its face.

"Meh, I'm a Fighting-type Trainer. Do any of these gain a Fighting-type as their sub-type? A friend told me that this creature called Tepig gets it. Is that correct," Brad replied as he focused his eyes on the Tepig.

"Why yes, absolutely correct. I have a chart with their forms here..." She quickly swiped a chart off her table.

Tepig : The Fire Pig pokemon. Fire
Pignite : The Fire Pig pokemon. Fire/Fighting
Emboar : The Mega Fire Pig pokemon. Fire/Fighting

Brad looked at the chart and quickly took his eyes away from it as fast as he looked at it. "Er, great... You just spoiled it. I didn't want to know how the evolution would look like. Whatever. So, is that it? Is he mine now," he said in an annoyed tone.

"Whaa- S-Sorry!" She apologized, small anime-styled drops by her head. "Yeah, sure. Would you like to give him a nickname?" She handed the pokeball to him.

Brad took the Poké Ball and pinned it to his belt. "Nah, I don't do names. It was a pleasure to meet you, pretty face. We'll be off now," Brad said.

Him and his Hitmonlee walked out of the laboratory and proceeded to the grassy area. "Eh, we're going to encounter some weird ones out here, huh," Brad told his Hitmonlee, referring to the Pokémon that can only be seen around this region. Hitmonlee started walking around searching for a Pokémon to battle. For him or for the new team member, Tepig.

"...Pretty...face?" Juniper shrugged, and turned back to her work.

A sudden chill surrounded the trainer and his pokemon. A single small snowflake drifted down from the cloudless sky. Soft footsteps approached. A Snover. Snover were known to be curious pokemon and this one definitely lived up to it's reputation. It peered from behind a tree at the new arrivals.


Level 17

While he was looking around, Hitmonlee spotted the white creature. He pointed at it and Brad noticed the wild, too.

"Hey, come on out here," Brad taunted.

Snover cocked it's head. The taunt seemed more like an invitation. It slowly waddled out towards the duo.

Hitmonlee turned his head to Brad and his trainer gave a very quick wink. Hitmonlee knew how to determine this sort of secret message which only the two of them knows. A quick wink means that Brad wants a surprise attack from Hitmonlee. The Kicking Pokémon quickly turned his head back to the Snover.

He would kick the opponent from the side, which should cause Snover to spin. If the plan goes according to plan, Hitmonlee would follow it up another swing of its leg and kicks the opponent, then comes around and kicks the opponent with the other leg.

A surprise attack which totals to triple kicks as Hitmonlee would keep spinning like a tornado for those kicks to happen. He shouldn't get dizzy from it nor lose his balance, he's very used in this and he has thrown kicks in the hardest of situations before.

Snover's eyes widened and dodged the first kick, making the whole plan crumble like a snowman on a warm summer day. It swirled and released a powerful Powder Snow attack on the Hitmonlee who had started the offence of it all.

Hitmonlee literally sprung up the sky with his ever stretching powerful legs avoiding the chilling powders. As Hitmonlee reach down the ground, Hitmonlee's hand glows white and it would attempt to karate-chop the Snover from above.

Snover was hit and a small wince escaped it. It released several blades of razor-sharp leaves at Hitmonlee. Razor Leaf.

Hitmonlee has just landed on the ground and was in the process of regaining balance when sharp leaves brushed through his skin. It had him stepping backwards woozily. While an orange aura surrounds his body. But somehow, he regained his balance. He stood down awaiting orders from Brad.

Brad noticed the orange aura and knew Hitmonlee was planning on using Revenge. "That's what I was thinking. Revenge," Brad supported the idea. Hitmonlee would swing a glowing orange roundhouse kick at Snover.

Snover was struck again and this time it was a bit of a squeal. It released another Powder Snow.
