Alexander stood at the edge of the woods that say on the road connecting Cerulean City to Saffron City. This time, his pokemon hunt was under his control and on his terms. Last time, Theodosius had randomly charged into the woods, catching them both off guard and unprepared. This time, however, they were intentionally hunting wild pokemon to train and expand their group. Stepping into the woods, Alexander held Theodosius' pokeball in his right hand, while Chandra and Andiron sat on his belt, ready to be called at a moment's notice. He had to walk for several minutes before he found any sign of life whatsoever. Crouching down, Alexander examined some scratch marks on the base of a tree, several feet up the trunk. Sap was beginning to flow from the wound, indicating it was fresh. A pokemon was around here somewhere, and it was able to leave claw marks several feet up a tree, probably sharpening it's nails. It certainly had potential to be something interesting.

Searching the area around the marked tree, Alexander found some belt and broken twigs on shrubs along the ground, creating a nice trail for Alexander to follow. Finally, after several minutes of laborious stalking, he heard scratching on a nearby tree. He had found his mark. Holding Theodosius' pokeball, ready to release his companion at a moment's notice, he stepped around the tree, revealing his quarry at last.

Alexander had chosen the wrong tree to step around that day. As he turned, what came into view was a large, hulky, obviously enraged Drapion(Drapion, lvl. 43), which was roaring loudly, emotion flooding it's cry. As soon as it saw Alexander, it took a defensive stance, it's eyes narrowing drastically, and it looked like it's strike at any moment. Tread carefully~

Alexander froze as he came face to face with the large Drapion. This... was not to be trifled with. Not a damn pokemon in his party could raise a feather to a fully developed mother Drapion, especially one as angry as her. Yes, her, the gender of a Drapion was easy to identify by the shape of the spikes; the females had curved tips. She was way too big to leave the previous marks though... a mother? That was bad news. Avoiding making any sudden movements, Alexander reached into his left pocket, withdrawing a handful of pokemon treats. He threw them on the ground, then slowly stepped backwards twice, bending at the knees to lower himself, making his body as small as possible, trying to indicate he wasn't a threat. Still, his thumb rested gently on the button at all times, ready to release Theodosius. If he had to, he'd release all his pokemon and join the fray himself with his knife, because if this thing came at him, it would be a fight to the death.

The Drapion sniffed at the treats thrown on the ground before awkwardly pinching them with her claws and drawing them into her mouth, drawing closer to Alex as she did this. Upon closer inspection of her and the area, one could notice that she had several apparently sharp thorns embedded into a fleshy area. There were also scuff marks around, and odd footprints that obviously weren't the Drapion's. Upon finishing the treats, she returned her attention to Alexander, slightly less rage in her expression, at least, it appeared that way.

Alexander stepped forward a single step slowly, calmly. The pokemon was injured, and needed help. Besides, he could examine these scuff marks if he got closer, he was a pokemon breeder, he could recognize footprints, or at least examine them to figure out their weight/size based off the imprint. Withdrawing more treats, Alexander spoke in a soft, quiet voice. He knew pokemon were intelligent, and even wild ones could comprehend speech. "I'm not your enemy. I just want to help. You're injured; I can remove those thorns and treat the wounds. I don't want to catch you." As Alexander spoke, he put Theodosius' pokeball on his belt, removing the danger of it being an empty pokeball from the Drapion's mind. If she would allow him to approach closer by dropping her guard, he would give her the treats and slowly remove the thorns carefully, if she raised her guard, he would back away quietly and work his way around her with a wide birth, trying to find signs of the pokemon that had attacked her.

The Drapion tensed. Should it trust this invader? Was it telling the truth? She decided that Alexander was to be trusted, apparently, because she lowered her claws and bowed her head slightly, trying to look less threatening. It allowed the trainer to grow closer to him, and relaxed her muscles. As she did this, a somewhat menacing laugh rang out through the forest, one that could chill bone. The Drapion reared up once again and roared, recognizing the laugh with rage welling up with each passing second. She looked about for the source of the laugh, as if it would appear from the shadows.

As Alexander pulled out the first thorn, a laugh rang out, causing the Drapion to shoot up, ready for combat. Out of pure instinct, Alexander's hand danced along the surface of his belt, pressing the release button on all three poke-balls. Theodosius, Chandra and Andiron all appeared at the feet of Alexander and his new friend, and the group braced themselves for combat. "Don't worry, Drapion. We'll not let it hurt you again." he spoke aloud in an attempt to avoid the beast's ire towards him or his pokemon her fearful state. The laugh... what could be doing it?!

The laugh echoed again. The Drapion roared with anger, once again, and kept searching for the source, circling around before pointing off to a different direction, her back to Alexander. As soon as this happened, a purple figure appeared in front of Alexander, behind the Drapion's back, grinning widely. A Gengar(lvl. 47), the apparent source of the laughter. It laughed again and disappeared as the Drapion whirled around in a bulky way. She tried to find the Gengar again. The Gengar's eyes glowed blue and it pointed at a large tree branch, which glowed as well, then slammed into the Drapion at a hand movement.

A gengar?! First a Drapion, now this... both pokemon weren't even meant to be in this area, let alone be battling like this. Running was not an option however, the Gengar wouldn't let them escape now, they were infamous for chasing and tormenting people. They'd have to fight with the Drapion's assistance. Thankfully, They had an elemental advantage as well as a numerical one, which would compensate for a gap in strength. Ghost pokemon were weak to Psychic and Dark techniques, and the assembled masses could use both. "Theodosius, get ready to use Confusion on it. Chandra, if it gets close, use bite. Andiron, prepare to use ember when it reappears. Drapion... Use pursuit or faint attack if you can, Gengar is weak to darkness" Having given his orders, Alexander waited patiently, unable to act to assist the pokemon around him. Normally in such dangerous situations he'd jump into the fray, knife in hand. He wouldn't be able to touch the Gengar though, so all he could do was watch...
