Hunt For Pupitar: Week One

"YOU CAUGHT A LARVITAR?! WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY SO EARLIER?!" Dionysus barked at his Nephew in shock. Clearly, he didn't expect this news whatsoever. "You know how rare it is! They require a LOT of training, but are incredibly powerful and endlessly intelligent. They're vulnerable when they're Larvitars however. We need to evolve him into a Pupitar as soon as possible. I'm going to bring around a bunch of local trainers and we're going to whip him into shape!"

Fight One:

Chandra [Larvitar] | versus | Nereus [Wartortle]

Nereus faced Chandra down, a toothy grin of excitement painted on his face. Dropping onto all fours, he began to exhale sharply, expelling a stream of bubbles towards the timid Larvitar. Chandra leapt quickly to his left to avoid the bubbles, before raising his right foot high into the air, then sharply slamming it down into the ground. Small stones around the arena rose up to form nearly invisible sharp tips, sure to catch an unprepared pokemon off guard. A beautiful use of Stealth Rock that Alexander didn't expect to see from the young pokemon, especially uncommanded. Still, he survived wild for this long, at least. He had to have fought pokemon before Theodosius, logically. The Wartortle leapt into the air head first towards Chandra, and although the distance between the two was clearly far too large for him to jump it, he suddenly rocketed forward as if propelled by an invisible rocket on his back. Nereus' firm skull smashed straight into Chandra's chest, sending the pair flying backwards before smashing straight into... Alexander, who had moved to catch the pair, sparing them from crashing into the house before laying them back down on the soft grass. Chandra and Nereus found their feet slowly, and both stepped towards each other on shaky feet. They locked hands, and began to push as hard as they could against one another. SLowly, Nereus began to push Chandra backwards, but the little Larvitar responded by stomping his feet firmly every time he was pushed back a step, falling back on his old intimidation techniques from his wild youth.

A large wooden plank leaning against the side of the house shook every time the pair stepped backwards, Chandra's stomping helping shake it towards an angle where it would fall. As the pair reached the side of the house, Nereus smashed Chandra into the wall. The force sent the already loose beam toppling down, causing it to crash into the side of Nereus' head. The Wartortle fell over, squashed by the beam, and Chandra took the opportunity to sunk his teeth into the closest thing he could grab; the beast's leg. The Wartortle shrieked in pain and began to shoot a powerful stream of water into the beam, forcing it up and having it knock Chandra in the side of the head. The Larvitar's teeth held strong however, and as such Chandra was dragged as Nereus rolled to avoid the beam's return. Nereus rolled and rolled, kicking desperately as he tried to dislodge Chandra, until finally he rolled straight into one of the jagged rocks Chandra's Stealth Rock raised earlier. With a final whimper, the pain overwhelmed him, and Nereus passed out. His trainer recalled him with a sigh, and Alexander did the same. While Chandra's victory was largely luck based, it was still impressive to see the little man hold out for so long against such odds. Still, it'd be harder for him than that over the coming weeks and fights.

Fight Two:

Chandra [Larvitar] | Versus | Bruce [Tyrogue]

Bruce stepped forward, sinking his left fist into the palm of his right hand. "Rogue!" Bruce barked at Chandra with confidence, who stood stone faced. He was uncomfortable fighting like he had always been, but he still knew he had to do this. Bruce acted first, charging towards Chandra until he stood but a few feet away. He then dropped his body low, throwing a sweep kick towards Chandra's legs. Chandra leapt off the ground in response, and began to spin as he rose into the air. As Chandra spun, he exhaled, expelling a stream of sand which began to become whipped around as he spun, forming a large sandstorm in the environment around the group. Chandra landed on the opposite end of the yard from Bruce, who was shielding his eyes from the whipping sands with his left arm.

Bruce scouted the area with his eyes as best he could through the haze, and eventually noticed Chandra standing still at the opposite end of the field, abusing the camoflaguing effect of the sand in an attempt to avoid further conflict. As soon as Bruce began to approach Chandra, he switched to his second strategy, releasing a high pitched shriek. Bruce dropped to his knees, clutching his ears in an attempt to block out the horrible noise that Chandra had released, but this only opened him up to being blinded by the sand. Finally, Chandra had one last card left to play; his eyes lit up, glowing a powerful red colour as he used Leer on the Tyrogue. The sandstorm blinding him, the shriek deafening him and now the Leer weakening him left Bruce completely vulnerable to whatever Chandra wanted to do to him. Seeing his chance, Chandra charged Bruce, and sunk his teeth deep into his neck. Bruce shrieked and fell backwards, overwhelmed by the environmental and sensory assault that had left him vulnerable to such a powerful bite on a vulnerable area. His eyes rolled into the back of his head in defeat, and he passed out, being recalled by his trainer immediately to avoid further damage from the storm or the bite.

Fight Three:

Chandra [Larvitar] | Versus | Aegis [Riolu]

Chandra and Aegis met in the middle of the yard, bowing to each other briefly and exchanging pleasantries before stepping back a few feet from each other. Chandra moved first this time, beginning to spin as he exhaled a thick cloud of sand, creating the same whirling sandstorm that had proved so effective against the Tyrogue he had battled the day before. Aegis, clearly more experienced than the Tyrogue, had no need to cover his eyes, and ran forward undeterred, charging towards Chandra. As soon as Chandra landed, Aegis sunk into him, hitting him with an open palm that sent him flying backwards, smashing into a tree with a sickening crack. The impact left a crater in the surface of the tree, with the bark and surface layers shattering, leaving only heartwood remaining solid against the force of the impact. Chandra landed face down on the ground, and as he struggled to pull himself up, let out a sharp shriek. The sound staggered Riolu, who was temporarily deafened by it's volume, allowing Chandra to find his feet.

Chandra jumped off the ground, smashing into the ground with force. The ground around him yielded, and dozens of head sized stones shot out of the ground around him, rising approximately twenty feet into the air. The boulders floated there for a second, before flying towards Aegis, bombarding him with a rockslide of boulders. Aegis however began to mimic Chandra's movements to the letter, Jumping in the same fashion a few seconds after Chandra. From the opposite end of the field, rocks of the same size and shape rose out of the ground, and fired towards Chandra. The boulder onslaught crashed into each other, with the debree crumbling into pebbles in the middle of the field. As the sea of crumbling rocks fell, they obscured the vision of both pokemon, during which time Aegis charged forward rapidly, flying straight through the hail of rock and flying towards Chandra with impressive speed. He leapt, hitting him with an incredibly quick kick which sent him flying backwards. Chandra landed roughly, releasing a sharp whimper before trying to claw himself to his feet. As soon as he raised his head, however, he locked eyes with Aegis, who was already mid-swing, bringing his hand down onto Chandra's head with a sickening crack. Chandra's eyes rolled into the back of his head, his arms giving way underneath himself as he dropped back onto the floor, unconscious.

Small note: I used rock slide in the fight, I'm aware I don't know it yet, this is simply part one of me training him to Pupitar and as such I used the move since he'll know it by the end of this and it's simply versus npcs.
