[Non-training Paragraph]
"It's a deal!" Officer Jenny said with a grin. Alexander would work nights in the Growlithe breeding centre for the Police training interns and shoring up facilities, and in exchange he and Andiron would spend their days training with the other Growlithes and their officers. The perfect environment for his pup. "Thank you so much, Jenny! We'll be here first thing tomorrow morning!" "Lithe!" Andiron yapped happily at his feet, thanking the officer for her acceptance. She was a young and tiny pup, but already she had the heart of a lion.

Day One

[Paragraph one isn't training]

"Welcome to Day one of Growlithe training. This is a simple course for young Growlithes, as you all know. That is why the most important thing first is to develop basic instincts in your pokemon, as well as improving their stamina and most importantly, building a bond between your pokemon and their handler. As such, what we will be doing today is incredibly simple. We will be playing Fetch. You have all been given a Baton and a bag of treats. The idea is simple; throw the baton as hard as you can while giving the command "retrieve", and give it a treat when it completes the task. Given that most Growlithes here are only a few weeks old, this will take them a bit to grasp, but they'll get it down quickly. Any questions?" The horde of uniformed officers standing in rank and file beside their Growlithes let their silence stand as their answer. Even though all the Growlithes were puppies of roughly the same age as Andiron, they were all quite larger, and together the suit wearing trainer and the scrawny runt looked severely out of place. "One last thing. The man in the suit is Alexander Brennenburg, a breeder from Lavender town. He's joining us on our program in exchange for some breeding work. Make him welcome." Alexander blushed and waved awkwardly as a series of eyes locked firmly onto him. "Growlithe..." Andiron chipped in quietly, her nerves showing. Alexander silently took a knee and scratched her head in response. She was safe, and she had to know that. "now...BEGIN!"

With a simple flick of the wrist, Alexander tossed the Baton a good 25 metres, declaring "Fetch!" he ordered, to which Andiron gave him an awkward look for a moment, before kicking off firmly, chasing after the dark blue wooden baton. He felt everyone go silent for a moment, and realized that every other Growlithe was standing there by their trainers, confused. Alexander's shame and nervousness turned into confidence as the baton was dropped at his feet by Andiron, who give a loud bark of excitement, her tail wagging merrily. He gave her a treat, and threw the stick again. They did this over and over again, and slowly the other Growlithes began to mimic her actions, probably noticing the food she was getting for doing it, and soon the entire field was adrift with Growlithes flying left and right fetching batons. Another Growlithe ran up to Andiron's baton, and they both locked onto it at the same time. Andiron gave a growl as she tugged firmly, to which the other Growlithe who was far larger gave a horrid growl and yanked back in kind, tearing the rod from her jaw. Andiron whimpered and ran to Alexander, who scooped her into his arms with a sigh. She was just a baby, she was used to kind loving siblings if she had any at all, not large vicious warrior dogs who would steal from her and give her murder growls.

Alexander walked up to the other Growlithe, Andiron in hand, and grabbed the rod he was carrying back to his master mid-stride. His jaw was locked firmly, and at first he gave Alexander the same growl he gave Andiron, but Alexander replied simply by pulling the rod so hard he lifted the Growlithe into the air, who let go of it and ran away in terror. Andiron nuzzled into his chest with a little yelp of thanks, and the pair walked to a corner away from the other pokemon to play fetch on their own. They spent the rest of the day this way, throwing the stick over and over again, to which she would respond by sprinting after it and bringing it back as quickly as she could. By the time the sun was beginning to set, however, she had clearly had enough. She walked up to Alexander's feet, dropped the baton and collapsed to the ground panting violently. Poor thing, it was the most activity she'd ever had, but it was good for her. Weak pokemon had to work harder than the others, he'd learned that lesson from Theodosius...

Day Two: The Obstacle Course!
(second paragraph not training)

Andiron dashed along after Alexander as quickly as she could. First he would zig-zag around a series of steel poles, then she would follow after, copying his movements to the letter. The pair leapt over a series of hurdles, only to have to crawl under a wire netting through a trench the next second. Although it was harder on Alexander than Andiron due to the size difference, the pair did it together, as it was important for them to bond through this process. Besides, Andiron had confidence issues, and she needed him by her side. Once they got out of the crawl, a series of poles protruding out of a shallow pool of mud and water presented itself. Alexander leapt onto the first pole, and then hopped his way over each one til he reached the end. Andiron on the other hand was far less confident with this new challenge, and hopped onto one pole, then hesitated, looking at Alexander for mental comfort before hopping to the next, waiting, and then hopping again. It took her a minute to hop along all the poles due to her fear, but finally she made it back to Alexander. The pair dashed along a raised balance beam, with Alexander having to walk on a narrow beam, using his arms for balance. Andiron found it equally difficult, having to bring her strides in closer together than normal, but finally the pair did it!

"Time: 3 minutes 41 seconds. You came in fifth, well done!" Andiron barked happily, and the assembled group applauded. They were the last to do the cause, and it went well. They'd have won if it weren't for her fear. Still, it was understandable, she wasn't completely confident yet, but she was getting there. Slowly but surely.

Day Three: Attack Training

(using move I don't know at this point [ember] because due to previous word count XP she'd be at a level where she learned it)

"Andiron, BITE!" Andiron's fangs sunk deep into Alexander's forearm, locking in deeply. She thrashed with her body as hard as she could, and although she didn't have much muscle mass or weight due to her previous issues of malnourishment, she could summon a surprisingly epic amount of force. Alexander was yanked forward by his arm, dropping to his knees, his other hand bracing himself on the grass. The foam padding protected his flesh from the razor sharp fangs of his beloved pokemon. "Andiron, release!" Andiron let go of the foam padding, and immediately snuggled into the arms of Alexander, a mixture of pride at what she had done and discomfort for who she was doing it to radiating from her. "I'm okay dear."

"Andiron, Ember!" Andiron inhaled deeply on his master's command, flooding his lungs with air which it rapidly mixed with gaseous it created within his system. He expelled this composition, creating a spark in his throat as he did so. By opening and closing a diaphragm in his throat, he released the gases in three bursts, which projected outwards as three fireballs. The three fireballs pelted into the straw man, hitting him in the chest in perfect three second intervals. The fire spread rapidly, devouring the flammable straw and reducing the man to ashes in a matter of moments. Andiron was developing rapidly, from being shy and nervous to following instructions confidently like a true pack pokemon. She was rapidly regaining muscle mass from the intense physical training, and was even so confident as to start breathing fire! Words could not describe Alexander's pride in her.
