PostSubject: Wesley Woodward   Wesley Woodward H6Q0F8zMon Sep 02, 2013 5:00 pm

Name: Wesley Woodward
Nickname: "Wes"
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Rank: Trainer
Birthplace: Goldenrod, Johto
Battle Style: Analytical.
Looks:

Hair: Dark brown, scruffy, and in sore need of a groom.
Eye color: Dark blue.
Skin color: Caucasian; fair skinned and tends to burn easily.
Height: 5’6
Weight: 116 lbs

Face:

Although framed by what could be the nicest bone-straight, shoulder length hair in his dimension, his face has nothing worth swooning over. The deep blue color of his eyes seems out of place amidst his fair skin and mud-colored hair, almost acting as the ‘anchor’ for his entire face. He just seems to have one of those faces which are so blatantly generic that they gain something of a welcoming feeling from their familiarity. While Wes’s pointed nose and thin lips seem to compliment his thin-structured face, neither pieces compliment the whole enough for Wes to be singled out.

Body:

Wes is what his mother calls “a late bloomer”; a 16 year old crawling his way into puberty. This is blatantly obvious in his 5’6 stature, lack of facial hair and above-average confusion when it comes to the opposite sex. As of now, the only traces of extra hair are seen in the form of thin black stubble on his upper lip, along with a few unwanted armpit hairs. Not pretty, but puberty rarely is.

While his wide shoulders supporting a support, and take notice away from, his large head, they also serve as a contrast for his build. His torso has been compared to a “pre-pubescent Japanese girl’s” due to both its wiry frame and sheer lack of muscle mass, both of which have become the center of his physical insecurities.

Voice: This, unlike the rest of his body, being almost as awkward as he is, has found a happy medium between soprano and baritone. However, it is unfortunate that an embarrassing squawk like noise slips out so often.

Clothes

Shirts: Wesley doesn’t care much for fancy clothes, a fact made blatantly obvious in his appearance. For shirts, most of Wes’s wardrobe is compiled of plain white Ts that were ruined in some way (stain, rip, etc.). While he does have a few nice t-shirts, it’s uncommon to find him in one.

Jacket: A black leather coat formerly owned by his grandfather that has barely weathered the test of time. Some people would say that all the tiny tears and holes add ‘character’, the  vast majority simply call it  “ruddy”. The top of the coat is buckled and buttoned and the ends of the sleeves have been jammed into its zippered pockets, scratching the leather with its jagged edges.

Cold conditions: Wes’s winter wear differs little from his regular attire. He simply wears the jacket as intended, along with two pairs of those cheap cotton gloves. For pants, he dons his normal jeans with a green waterproof set of track pants worn above.

Footwear: Wesley only has within his possession two pairs of shoes.

1. Bright red sneakers with white soles. Bought at Wally-World.

2. Dark brown work boots with black rubber soles. Good for all climates, an inch too big for his feet, and extraordinarily waterproof.

Personality:

Who he is:

First impression: The stick is so far up his ass that it's affected his posture.

Wesley’s self-assuredness is a disease that has already blighted his own body and has been projected in every aspect of his life. His body, speech and mannerisms all carry a charismatic decisiveness that, when left unchecked, can be infectious. In nature, Wesley is a leader: his confidence and decisive qualities rule his social life and those in it, but with a gentle hand and not an iron fist. Magic aside, his true power lies in his ability to manipulate people, even if it is done for the perceived good.

Despite his general rigidness, he is constantly attempting at bettering himself. Wesley is the first to admit he is wrong, and doesn’t mind being such. What matters to him is a level of conviction to every aspect of his action, even if that happens to be admitting ignorance. “Maybe”s and “perhaps”s are words that rarely leave his lips, as they lack any sort of devotion to the topic and thus, have about as much use as a second ****.  In principle, Wesley just likes to be completely certain, because what is fact is always truth...even if his certainty is in his ability to lie.

Wesley lies as he breathes. Perhaps this was once rooted in the need to be secretive about himself and his family, but even this has gotten out of hand, as is the nature of a lie.  The only real problem he has with his lying is that he is exceptionally good at it. The passion and decisiveness that he has in abundance makes it easy for others to and take his side, even when his side is utter nonsense. Generally, his pathological lying is limited to facts rather than opinions: if asked where he grew up, he would spew some falsity, whereas if he were asked his opinion on where he grew up, he would be completely truthful. Lying, and more importantly the keeping track of it all, takes a fair amount of brain power; Wesley didn’t get good at it by being a dolt.

Emotionally, Wesley is over-developed. His commitment to the people he cares about extends to their thoughts and feelings, and takes great care in ensuring that every member of the group has their voice heard. When someone is noticeably hurt, Wesley will react strongly. If two people have conflicting emotions, Wesley will often find himself confused and uncomfortable. Given how headstrong he is, his heart has sensibly compromised by being far too soft. Being the consoling friend is a role he has often played throughout his life, and his ability to say whatever he pleases has made him rather good at it. Although extroverted, open and outwardly kind, Wesley is extremely had to get to know; largely because he doesn’t quite know himself quite yet.

Who he thinks he is:

-Classy
-Interesting
-Charming

Like many people, Wesley focuses on his faults. His empathy and general unwillingness to harm people can often be very hard on him when things don’t work out the way he wants them to. Regret, as they say, is high definition video set on ‘loop’, and this guilt is often enough to drive Wesley into actions he wouldn’t normally be a part of.

Who he wants to be:

Wesley hasn’t thought about his future much, which probably says a great deal in and of itself.

History: Wesley's father, Walter, was something of an entrepreneur and a former member of the communications systems division of a large technology industry. At the time of Wesley’s birth, he co-ran a consulting firm of a similar nature alongside Wesley’s mother, Dana. The weight of his knowledge combined with her raw persistence turned the company into a success, providing their family with enough wealth to start living in urban bliss. Wesley and his sister Audrey grew up staring at their several acre yard from their second story windows, attending monthly block parties in their upper-middle class neighbourhood and annual fishing trips. Wealth, it seemed, had bought the family happiness.

But not all was well on the western front. The blend of Walter and Dana that brought success in the business-world clashed behind the walls that were further enclosed by the aesthetics of the white picket fence. Emotional distress that threatened to tear the family apart drove the two siblings into a world of their own, bringing them closer together even as their parents spoke of splitting apart. As a young schoolboy with little means of expressing himself, Wesley largely repressed the distress of life after three o’clock. To everyone that bore a different surname, Wesley was a calm, cool and collected individual with an unfaltering resolution, quick wit and an average athletic ability.  Even so, he had very few friends throughout his childhood and none close enough to speak of, largely because of the emotional distance he kept between himself and others. However, loneliness was not an emotion often felt by the young lad; where his kinship with his sister fell short, the written word of philosophers and novelists picked up the slack.

His first Pokémon was caught several days after his twelfth birthday party on the fishing trip his father took him on every year, in lieu of a party filled with empty seats. Wesley and his father awoke to crunching and crackling near the tent, where a Heracross was found gnawing on the wrappers of left-over freezies and licking the icing off the cake lid. Armed with a frying pan, the spry young lad snuck up on the creature and beat it into submission before imprisoning it within the ball received from his sister as a birthday present. The friendship that developed between the two were well worth the hours spent in the hospital to treat the scratches from its chitinous forearms, bit the double chocolate fudge cake alone made it a trip he'd never forget.

Several years came and went. Heracross's carefree nature spread little by little onto his master, and the freedom thought to come with escaping the urban life seemed more appealing each passing day. While the thoughts of a life outside what he knew spread into various ideas and evolved into plans, the emotional strain of his parent’s fighting became a harder burden to bear. When he was fourteen, he dropped out of the prestigious academy his parents had bought his way into and bid farewell to the few friends he had made. With his only ‘true’ companion of the time locked in a sphere within his pocket, he wandered into the wild. His sister would occasionally receive a letter written in sharpie on newspaper or discarded parchment, but she could never shake the feeling of abandonment that came with his sudden disappearance.

Sixteen weeks into his adventure and Wesley was re-born with renewed spirit. With his wits about him, he ploughed through every task that threatened to slow him down. Heracross woke him up early every morning, half for training and half for a breakfast of convenience-store danishes, and their bond grew stronger over both their victories and defeats. With a decent ratio swaying in favor of his wins, Wesley thought himself good enough to take on the gym challenge of the Johto region and made his way to Violet city.
