At the Edge of Saffron Empty
PostSubject: At the Edge of Saffron   At the Edge of Saffron H6Q0F8zSun May 19, 2013 11:17 pm

Ellie's last moments with her mother and father before leaving had been full of shouting and arguing. To leave her entire life behind and venture into the wilderness after pokemon seemed ridiculous to her mother and father who wanted to see her somewhere more secure. However the ultimatum they had given Ellie to get to work or back to school only forced her to do as she pleased. She had nothing of any meaningful value to lose, and a ticket away from city life to gain.

Having gone through none of the proper channels to acquire her first pokemon Ellie didn't start from the usual point in the region first-time trainers usually start in. She had travelled out to the Northern edge of her home, Saffron City to the quiet suburbs. She was a long way from the stinking traffic, towering skyscrapers and office blocks. This was a part of the city she rarely got to see, nicely spaced out houses with lush gardens and tree-filled parks around every couple of corners or so. She smiled momentarily at the sound of bird twitter, something she was only familiar with on movies. It was a rare sound in her real life.

Despite it being slightly cooler in the suburbs Ellie regretted wearing her green coat while also having to carry around a heavy rucksack. It was more exercise than she was used to and she was getting hot and tired. Her black long hair was starting to stick and frizz in the humidity and her usual scowl returned. As she swung her starter pokemon's pokeball in her hand as she marched as though she were readying herself for a battle. That was unlikely, this was just some quiet little suburban street. Who would bother her here? Ellie only succeeded in making herself look a bit silly and out of place flashing her pokeball around, especially since she had never battled before.

Many of the houses ahead backed on to a woodland route. There were plenty of side paths constructed between properties to access the area. Each one was signed, “Route 5”. Ellie looked at her watch and inspected the sign one more time as if something could have changed since she last glanced at it. It was late but the sky seemed clear. As long as the rain stayed off she could camp in the forest if she couldn't reach Cerulean City by night fall.

To get on to the Route 5 main path Ellie was going to have to meander along a much narrower path lined with overhanging vegetation and partially obscured by tall trees. It was a rich and lively place brightened a luminous green by the sun. Birds and insects sang and chirped pleasant tunes and the air seemed cooler, more refreshing and more clean. It was beautiful to Ellie but also a bit of an information overload. In her excitement to be in such a natural place she started to feel a little bit sick. As expected for someone as sheltered as she was Ellie grew more and more anxious being somewhere so unfamiliar. She started to wonder if this really was such a good idea. It was a bit overwhelming.

Not to mention this was a prime place to encounter wild pokemon. If she was going to be serious about this then this spot could be a good place for her to test herself.

[OC: Since its your first one and your RP post is of very nice quality, I'll give you a little bonus in this post and this post only. Only this once. Interact with the Pokemon to see what's unique about it. Choose any one of the many Pokemon I list below. Each of them have uniqueness from the others of its species. I'll leave obvious hints.. And bear with me I can't RP Pokemon with that much quality]

A particularly loud chirp echoed in the forest. As if the creature was under attack, the chirping continued, more like a screech than a chirp. Soon enough, it became irritating. If the trainer looked to the direction of the annoying sound, she would see a tree on which one of its branches stood a bird Pokemon. Upon a closer inspection, one would see it was a Pidgey that seemed to have a strangely bigger beak than the average Pidgey. Looking more intensely, an Ekans came into view along with three eggs. It was clear now, a Pidgey caught an Ekans trying to eat some eggs, most probably the Pidgey's. What's this? The Ekans attempted to bite the Pidgey, its fangs glowing purple. It was using a move which, was not a move it normally learnt. That was not all! When the Pidgey swiftly evaded the attack by flying a few inches back, away from the Ekans' reach, the snake Pokemon's tail glowed purple and it struck the Pidgey square in the face! It was an unusual scene, a wild Ekans using moves its not suppossed to learn naturally. However, the Pidgey was seemingly more experienced in fighting, as it struck back quickly with flapping its wings rapidly, creating a whirlwind that literally blew the Ekans away and out of the bird's nest. The Ekans landed a good ten feet away from the trainer and looked up at the tree, hissing. The Pidgey screeched a very loud chirp through its large beak as a warning to the Ekans below.

No further away, a strange Pokemon was following another one. The one being chased was running towards the trainer, not necessarily towards her, but just in that direction. As they came closer, it became evident that the two Pokemon were a Ralts and a Togepi. The Ralts was chasing the Togepi. A well-informed person would know that Ralts liked to be around happy people and Pokemon and Togepi's final evolution, Togekiss was the "Happiness Pokemon". Thus, it was not a weird situation. The Togepi was not aware of this and thus panicked, thinking this Ralts was some creepy stalker. Being as alerted as she was, the Togepi's instincts kicked in and she turned around and used Metronome. After waving her glowing-white hands, she critical-hit DynamicPunch-ed the Ralts and kept running as fast as she could, which was very slow. However, she was Super Luck-y to have nailed that hit with a bad accuracy and make it a critical hit at the same time. The attack confused the Ralts and made him all dizzy but he kept following the Togepi with dazed, dreamy eyes. However, after finding it too difficult, Ralts used a move that a regular Ralts did not learn; Confuse Ray. After looking up and exposing its otherwise hidden eyes, the Ralts half-heart shaped horns glew brightly, causing the Togepi to look back only to be affected when the Ralts created a colorful ball of non-pysical matter that expanded until it exploded in a non-damaging mini-explosion that confused anything that saw the sinister light. Now, Togepi was confused as well and the two helpless pokemon struggled to stand as they looked around with smiles on their faces, stumbling all around like drunk men.

Choose one. Or do you keep looking?
