Lyre Empty
PostSubject: Lyre    Lyre H6Q0F8zThu Oct 25, 2012 3:26 am

Name: Lyre (Formerly known as Kathrin Hiun)

Nickname: Lyre, as that is the name she now calls herself

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Rank: For the closest thing, Trainer

Birthplace: Lentimas Town, Unova

Battle Style:
She doesn't battle unless necessary for her goals. Though Swift, her Zoroark, enjoys fighting, she finds it pointless. When having to battle, she's rather strategic and uses Swift's illusion ability to her advantage. She often causes doubt between the partnership between Pokemon and trainer during the course of the battle, and some of them end in the trainer releasing their Pokemon to decide if it truly wants to be with them or not.

Looks:
Lyre Lyra

A medium height and lean build, Lyre doesn't stand out from a crowd. She wears simple clothing and always has her hair down. Not one for style, she bases herself more on practicality. Her usual attire is a white tank top and a pair of jeans, but when necessary, she can easily make an elegant dress work for her.

Personality:
Lyre is hard to figure out. She can be kind one moment, then lash out in rage the next. She has a strong compassion for the loyalty of Pokemon, though she thinks how people use them is wrong. She's mistrusting of people, and never quite reveals too much of herself to them. She thinks of Pokemon as equals, and thinks most trainers believe Pokemon to be tools, under the concern of most humans. She believes the use of Pokeballs is morally wrong, and has set out to end such tools. Kind to all Pokemon, and hostile to trainers, her main tool is her words. She can speak very convincingly, and has never lost an argument. She stays calm no matter how dire the situation, and never gives up. She won't quit her quest to end the human control on Pokemon, and won't see beyond what she believes is right.

History:

Growing up in a desert was harsh for Lyre, Kathrin at the time. She was always kind of frail, and the tough climate and terrain wreaked havoc on her body. She was teased by other kids for not being tough enough to withstand the sandstorms, and she couldn't wait to leave her miserable little town. She was taught how to be a Pokemon trainer by her father at an early age, as he was once a great battler in his prime. Her mother died when she was young, so Lyre never quite had a female role model in her life.

Because of the lack of a female figure combined with her all too feminine look, Lyre was a strange child. A girl who acted as tough as a boy, and didn't stand for being pushed around. Unfortunately for her, this quality only fueled the flames for her tormentors, who drove her to loathe where she lived. Having no friends, her only knowledge was to be a Pokemon trainer, and that is the path she decided to follow. Encouraged by her father, proud to have a daughter follow in his footsteps, she left as soon as she could on a plane headed to Mistralton City. Free from her tormentors, she was ready to start a legacy, to show those kids that she could, no, would become something great. She would be the champion of Unova, and all her tormentors would regret what they did.

To be a champion, first you'd need a Pokemon. Luckily for Lyre, her dad supplied her with plenty of Ultra Balls to begin her journey with. Even if you don't have a Pokemon, he had told her, you can still have good chances at catching one with these. With her father's advice in mind, Lyre set out to catch her first Pokemon.

Going to the closest route, Lyre eagerly set off to catch a Pokemon. On her way, she meets another young and eager trainer who had just caught his own Pokemon on the route. He was heading back to train his newly caught partner, and he offered to help her catch her own. Moved by the boy's kindness, no other boy has ever been kind to her save for her dad, she happily accepted. They continued to the route, and almost immediately ran into a wild Audino. Happy to have finally ran into a Pokemon that could be her first team member, and with the assistance of the boy, she managed to catch the Audino.

Finally, Lyre had a Pokemon to start her journey. The boy asked if she would like to train with him, and again she accepted. He started to fight the wild Pokemon in the route, and encouraged her to do the same. Happily, Lyre started to as well. That's when she noticed something: every attack that she called, her Audino was hesitant to use. Every Pokemon it fainted caused it to become more and more distressed. Even as more attacks were called, Audino continued, almost unwillingly. Upon realizing this, Lyre stopped her training, and the boy continued, his Pokemon under distress as well. It seemed they knew the other Pokemon on the route, they could even be friends.

She quickly asked the boy to stop, and he questioned her as to why. She explained the hesitation and duress she saw the Pokemon going through, and his response was just a laugh! Isn't that what Pokemon are for?, he asked her, Pokemon our for the use of humans. Who cares if they want to battle or not. I caught this Pokemon, I can make it do what I want it to do. Isn't that what we're supposed to do? What's the use of a Pokemon that doesn't battle? How can you become Champion if your Pokemon doesn't fight for you? After the boy had said that, they quickly parted ways, and set out on different paths as well. It was that moment on that Lyre started re-thinking what it was to be a trainer. Perhaps becoming Champion and being a trainer wasn't as glorious as her father let on. Perhaps it was a cruel thing to do to creatures that were just as human as she.

With thoughts of her Audino in mind, Lyre stopped battling the other Pokemon in the neighboring route. She stopped housing it in the Ultra Ball as well, as it seemed like a symbol of control more than anything else in Lyre's mind. Though Audino followed her and did as commanded, the Pokemon seemed more like a slave than a Pokemon. Mind, it didn't act like a servant only acting upon her will, but it just didn't seem happy. Knowing what had to be done, Lyre released Audino the next morning. Without hesitation, the Pokemon left to the route where she had caught it, most likely to rejoin the Pokemon it grew up with and was friends with. The Pokemon had only remained loyal to her because it had been captured in an Ultra Ball. When given the opportunity, it gladly left its trainer for the wild without hesitation. From that moment on, Lyre knew that being a Pokemon trainer was just the same as enslaving Pokemon and forcing them to fight. It created artificial bonds, and misery for Pokemon. It wasn't right, and she had to stop it.

Without any Pokemon, Lyre started trying to convince others that they were hurting their Pokemon, and forcing their loyalty. If your Pokemon were truly loyal to you, she would reason to them, they would gladly stay with you, even after you release them. Many trainers were convinced by this, and some even released their Pokemon. In only but a few cases did the Pokemon remain by their trainer's sides, hurt that the trainer would even think of breaking the bond. Most of the Pokemon, on the other hand, left without a backwards glance at the person who had used and trained them.

It was at this point that Lyre changed who she was. Embarrassed to carry the name her father gave her, he was just another tyrannical trainer, she decided on the name Lyre. No last name, no variation, simply Lyre.

While traveling, Lyre reached Lostlorn Forest at some point. Something called to her there, something of power. Upon entering the forest, she knew immediately that it was a haven. What for, she did not know. She knew simply that something wanted her to go there, and she followed that something. It was Swift drawing her to the area, somehow knowing her intentions, and finding a common bond between them. Of course, Lyre did not know of the Zoroark, and was very startled when she showed herself to her.

At the moment they met, there was an instant connection. They had an unexplainable bond, not an artificial one created by Pokeballs, but a true one, made without the use of technology. From the instant they saw each other, they had the bond of partners. Swift felt a sense of power and pure being within Lyre, almost as if Lyre herself could have been a Pokemon instead of a human, and knew that she would fight for the rights of the Pokemon, and not the greed of most humans. Lyre saw a friendship not made by the fake bond of a Pokeball, but a bond between two creatures that respected and generally felt kindness and loyal to one another. It was an instant bond the moment they saw each other. Though it would have to be for Swift to have even lifted her illusions to reveal herself.

Lyre, now with Swift, an uncaught Pokemon, at her side, she continued to fight for the freedom and true bonding of Pokemon. Swift remains loyal to her partner, not master, and will fight for whatever they need to fight for. Both would die for each other, and isn't that what a true bond should be like?
