Nightmares

Rath knew he was dreaming, but it felt so real. The ghostly voice that haunts him, that he has no escape from, was there, it didn't say anything understandable, but it was there. Always there; in his head, his dreams, it followed Rath everywhere, his personal nightmare. He was dreaming of the day his life ended, not physically, but it mine as well should have. He was surrounded by darkness, and suddenly it became overpowering, and it was slowly consuming. He couldn't scream and couldn't move. There was no escape. As the world became blotted out and the darkness grew more and more powerful, Rath found himself grow weaker and weaker. A cold laugh grew louder and louder until suddenly-

Rath awoke in a cold sweat. He took in the surroundings of the Cherrygrove Pokemon Center, and he breathed a sigh of relief. He had escaped his dreams for another night- or rather day, as he preferred to travel by night. Quietly shaking Dawn and Dusk awake, he set out in the light of the sunset, and headed to the outskirts of Cherrygrove. He needed to walk to keep his head clear of the nightmares, and the forest he headed to seemed like just the place to do so.

The trees kept bristling as the trainer walked, almost as though a pokemon was in them. As the trainer continued, the trees bristled more and more, and it became louder, like something big was in the trees. Was the trainer gonna investigate?

Rath heard the rustling, and couldn't stop himself from seeing what it was. Dusk sat on his shoulder with a look of curiosity as well. Dawn, however, seemed quite cautious, and took a few steps back away from the rustling trees.

Getting a good foothold, Rath began climbing up, preparing himself for whatever was waiting for him up there.

Scared a little senseless by the trainer randomly appearing in it's sights, a pidgey immediately screeched at the trainer to make it go away. It started flapping as well, and started butting the treebranch, making it move. It was gonna make the trainer fall!

Startled by the bird, Rath did indeed fall out of the tree. Dusk hurtled to the ground with him, and wasn't all too happy about it. Getting up, she looked around for the Pidgey, she was going to teach it a lesson! A small burst of laughter came out of Dawn, who stood watching nearby.

Rath looked around for the Pidgey, kind of hoping it flew off. He didn't want it to face Dusk's wrath, even if it would be entertaining.

The pidgey flew out of the tree, and began pecking at Rath. It was furious with her, disturbing it's peace and quiet in its tree. It kept pecking and pecking, ignoring the pokemon aroudn her.

Dusk, seething with rage, jumped up at the Pidgey, raking out her claws as she did so. Acting upon quick instinct and judgement, Rath caught the raging Larvitar, and held her tightly in his arms. "You'd be angry too if a stranger just woke you out of a good night's sleep. We have to remember that most Pokemon and people don't have our schedual."

Dusk simply gave him a look as if to say Well, you woke me from my peaceful sleep. This caused both Rath and Dawn to chuckle, and forget about the Pidgey altogether. Together, Dusk still in a very firm grip, they continued their walking. It seems the nightmare of this night was slowly fading from Rath's midn, being replaced by happier moments.

Suddenly, a Thunder Shock came out from a bush, coming at the Pidgey. Then a trainer came out of the bushes and looked at rath "Hey! didn't i see you a New Bark once?"

Rath turned at the sound of the voice, and Dusk struggled to get out of his grip. In seeing the trainer he had seen in New Bark Town, he gave a stiff nod. "We did see each other," he said in a flat voice. "Might I ask what you are doing here at this time of night?" Dawn looked curiously at the trainer, but hid herself behind Rath's legs. She was very timid, and cautious around new people. Dusk, on the other hand, was struggling to get out of Rath's grip, but he held tightly. Who knew what she would do to this trainer if she were loose.

"I like the night, its fresh at this time of year" Juero replied "And also, some pokemon apear only at night, im looking for any dark type and a Noctowl" Juero continued "plus, Elekid needs some training" Juero looked at Rath and wonderd if battling him would be hard.

Rath nodded, he still had a poker face. "I see," he seemed to size up Juero, and found that the boy seemed incapable of doing harm. "But I find it best you get away from me, before you or I get hurt. The world isn't as innocent as you thing. Sometimes people don't get their happy endings, and I don't want that to happen to you."

"He, do you bring bad luck or something?" "Anyway, I find the world less innocent then you think I do, I lost a few friends and family members along my life. Anyway, do you want to battle? Like I said before, Elekid needs training." Juero didn't know why but he kinda like the wierd person standing there.

"Bad luck," Rah mused, "I guess you could say that." He paused in a slight moment of thought. "I don't see the harm in a battle, I haven't had one in Arceus knows how long." Not wanting the kid to ask him about his own past, Rath did not speak his curiosities of Juero's. Dawn, still hiding behind Rath's legs, took a hesitant step forward, and gave a look that was meant to be intimidating, but looked more cute than the former.

"You can do this, little buddy," Rath encouraged, then stepped back. One battle can't hurt. The kid will be out of my life by daybreak, then neither I nor he will get hurt. Life is better that way, bonds cannot be broken if they're never formed, he thought.

Elekid stepped forward ready to fight. Elekid started swinginmg his fists to build up power.

Dawn was a little hesitant when the Elekid started getting pumped. She was always a bit fragile, and didn't like causing others harm, but then again, battles were a different manner. Before Elekid was done getting prepared, her trainer stated his first command.

"Seeing as there's little ground to dodge this, let's get things over with. Dawn, use Earthquake," Rath said. He smiled a little to himself, it felt good to let loose. Even if it were for just this once.

Dawn complied, and closed her eyes in focus. Almost instantly, the ground gave a tremor, and the attack hurled itself at Elekid.

Juero smirked and knew he already won the battle. He told Elekid to jump then used Brick Break. The attack already started so elekid took some super effective damage but not the full thing. Elekid started his counter attack fully charged up.


(Mostly, the user jumps and lands to create the earthquaka, i dunno if this is the case tho)

(No, think of Dawn more like an earth bender. She consentrates on moving the ground, and the attack is formed. Also, I stated she used the attack while Elekid was charging, you cannot say the attack happened afterwards. Please edit your post.)

(I was making a comparison. Cubone is too small to jump up and cause earthquakes or whatever, so she focuses and makes the attack (hense her closing her eyes and focusing before the attack) This is RP, things can happen differently than you think they should.)

Smiling to himself, Rath watched the Elekid jump at Dawn. "Use Bone Club," Rath commanded. The momentum of Elekid's attackwould cause the Bone Club to be even stronger because he's speeding at the swinging bone, and the speed is also difacult to stop, leaving there little opportunity to stop the attack or change it's course. It was almost definite that the attack would hit, all because of Elekid's own attack.

Elekid closed his eyes and when they opend again he had a sharper look in his eyes. Elekid pushed the Bone Club with his brik break, then, still blocking the and spinned and tried using another Brick Break aimned at the stomach using his other arm. Moving his fists from close to his chest to the outside while spinning.

Dawn used her own Bone Club as a staff to push Elekid away and move out of range of the attack. Gaining an intense look in her eyes, the ground started shaking once more, though greater than the previous one. With the Earthquake being launched,Dawn ran along with it, swinging herBone Club in a round arch Two attacks were harder to block than one!

Rath grinned to himself. Dawn had always been quite modest, but whenever a battle occured, she seemed to turn into a fury, ready to defeat any obsticle in her path.

Elekid was'nt on the ground yet after the jump so the attack failed. He then ran on the bone and tried hitting Dawn on the back.

Defying the natural laws of everything, Elekid landed on Dawn'sy small swinging bone and somehow stood on it even as it was moving at a very fast speed. Also reaching around the front of Dawn's body somehow, he hit her in the back. Crying out, she ell to the ground, also causing Elekid to fall of her bone.

Now knowing for certain that Elekid was on the ground, Dawn quickly got up and sped at him using the Earthquake-Bone Club combo once more. Elekid had only been hit once. It was basically impossible to dodge again.

Elekid got send flying by Dawns Bone Club, getting only half the effect of the Earth Quake. Elekid hit a tree with his feet and jumped of it, he started spinning while using thunder shock to strengthen his attacks. He then used a double brick break meant to attack Dawn and block any incoming attack.

With a smirk, Rath watched as the thundershock meant to strengthen Elekid was sent flying at Dawn instead. Hitting her worn skull, it became neutralized.

"Lightening Rod ability," Rath stated as Elekid charged at Dawn.

The Cubone knew that Elekid had to be getting extremely weak. Even if the Earthquakes were only half affective, he was hit twice, the full damage of one of them. This usually would faint a Pokemon of equal level, but somehow Elekid was still fighting. Even being hit by Bone Club on top of that didn't take him down. He haad to be on his last bit of strength, and Dawn was ready to finish it.

Waiting for Elekid to strike, Dawn made a plan.

(Also, you do know that fighting attacks do just a normal amount of damage, right?)
