The beginning

It was finally time, Josh would finally get to explore Eartha Island on his own. The first step of his journey involved befriending a pokemon, to do this Josh decided to look for berries to help him achieve that goal. As his parents were gone, Josh merely left a not informing his parents he was leaving. Josh already had the pokeballs needed, so he headed towards trees to pick some berries. In the distance Josh saw some Oran berries( can I choose the berry type), as he was picking the berries Josh spotted a _____. 

It was a male, level 5 Chatot peering down at Josh from a tree limb. He cocked his head to the side.

Josh looked the Chatot over, then decided to wait for another Pokemon. The Chatpt was coll, just not what he was looking for. Continuing his search, Josh spotted a _____ in the distance.

It was a male Houndour, level 5.

Josh was close to approaching the Houndour, but then drew back because of his hesitation. He wanted the perfect partner to start his journey, and the Houndour just wasn't it. Continuing to look around, Josh spotted a ________.
