PostSubject: Akiko Okinawa   Akiko Okinawa H6Q0F8zMon Apr 30, 2012 9:45 pm

Name: Akiko Okinawa
Nickname: Kiki
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Rank: Breeder
Birthplace: Olivine City, Johto

Battle Style: Akiko isn't the most avid battler, but she still enjoys the challenge now and then. She's most likely to use the knowledge she's gathered through her studies and observations to serve her during the battle. She tries her best to use type advantages, but that's not always an option, so she will on occasion rely on a randomly drawn up strategy, such as simply trying to overpower or out-speed the enemy. She tries to look on battles lightly for the most part until she's put in a corner. She never asks her Pokemon to fight for her if they are tired or unwilling, as she sees it as improper for a breeder.

Akiko is the younger one with dark hair, the older one is her sister, Mayonaka.

Personality: Akiko has a very odd personality in that it's very hard to summarize. She doesn't fall under any generalizations outside of "weird" if only for the wide array of things the word could possibly encompass. Her personality and general behavior can be very back and forth depending on her mood and the circumstances she's in, or a combination thereof. For some reason, different people bring out different sides of her though none of these sides are truly a mask to hide behind. In fact, they are all the truth within her, it is simply impossible for so many emotions and sides to be in one body all at the same time. This said, she's "weird" enough for some people to call her crazy.

Although she has very many sides, she always does her best to try and be friendly to strangers. She has a tendency of giving people the "benefit of the doubt" a few too many times, and lets people walk all over her before snapping. Once she's snapped, it's like releasing the bull from the pen. She'll scream, pull her hair out, even draw blood on herself to avoid inflicting pain on others through her rage, though it hasn't stopped her from time to time. This doesn't exactly help her "crazy" dilemma.  Even so, her temper is never aimed toward Pokemon for more than a scolding if the Pokemon has genuinely done something wrong.

History: Akiko was born as the second daughter in her family. Her elder sister, Mayonaka was born four years prior. As such, Mayonaka helped plenty in the raising process, making Akiko idolize her sister as she grew up. This being so, Akiko always pushed herself trying to be as good as her sister all the while not seeing that she was actually surpassing. This caused Mayonaka to grow jealous, and push her younger sister away. The two grew apart and Akiko furthered her studies as Mayonaka caused trouble.

Watching her sister's troubles made Akiko want to help, and she even thought about growing up to be a nurse. She didn't have the same drive to be a Pokemon Master that so many of the children growing up around her had, no. She simply wanted to find a way to help her sister find her way back home. Home of course not meaning that her sister had left, but that she had merely lost her proper path. This all changed when Mayonaka brought home an injured Pokemon. She spent so much time trying to nurse it back to health that she hadn't caused trouble in days. Yet, the Pokemon only grew more sickly.

Not wanting the Pokemon to perish, and her sister to revert to the horrid state she'd been in before, Akiko quickly got to work studying up on the species and symptoms it was exhibiting. She went out, gathering berries and herbs to grind up into a fine powder. She administered the powder, and followed the Pokemon's diet and care guide best she could for her young age. Luckily, Akiko was intelligent and resourceful, and so the Pokemon made a gradual recovery. Mayonaka, having bonded so strongly with it chose to keep it as her own partner, even though it was Akiko who healed it. Akiko didn't mind though, as it was that which brought her sister back.

It was then that Akiko learned that taking care of, and nursing Pokemon could be the way to help. So, she researched possible fields. There seemed to only be three general fields for such things. There was a Pokemon Professor, which merely studied the Pokemon. Then there was to become a Nurse at a Pokemon Center. Yet, they didn't really know what they were doing. They only administered the drugs that were already made. Then there was the Breeder. People who dedicated their lives to the health, well being, and care-taking of Pokemon. That was her new dream.

When Akiko turned 14, she was out and about around the outskirts of Olivine City when she came across a few wild Pokémon which seemed to be in a scuffle. It was pretty normal for them to occasionally go at it, but they seemed to be overly determined this time, so Akiko ran up and shooed them away with her bag. It was successful in separating them, but now she could see what they had been fighting over. It was a small white egg with blue and red designs spotting it. Looking around, she didn't see any Pokémon returning for the abandoned egg. She stayed there for hours, waiting for its mother to return, but it never did.

By nightfall, it was beginning to get chilly out and Akiko was beyond worried. She couldn't leave the egg there unattended, so she gently placed it in her bag and carried it home. She explained the situation to her parents, and was allowed to keep the egg and tend to it. She kept it warm with hot water bottles and blankets until they got her a portable incubator. Then, she took the egg with her everywhere she went. She was insistent on being there when it hatched, and to be the first person the Pokémon saw. She had read previously that it was all part of the bonding process.

After months of waiting, the egg finally hatched. Akiko waited with bated breath as it cracked open, yet only part of the shell seemed to fall off. A small spiked head, two little legs, and two little arms poked from the shell. Pulling out an encyclopedia, Akiko determined that it was a Togepi. She thought it was appropriate for her being a breeder, and decided to keep the Togepi as her new partner.

Two years later, while Akiko and Togepi were out researching some nearby flora, a strange bright light enveloped the baby Pokémon. Akiko was shocked at first, and ran up to her partner, worried about him. Yet as she reached him, the light went away though and nothing had changed. It seemed Togepi had become exhausted from fighting whatever it was. Figuring it must have been an energy surge, Akiko began packing her bags to go on a journey with Togepi to help burn his extra energy.
