"You know for a little girl she does some amazing work with clay." Edmond praised the duskull face mask his little sister had made him. He walked down a dirt path away from the small town he grew up in and looked only at the mask and nothing else. He held it up to his face and looked at a empty spot in the air and asked, "What do you think Clyde?"

Out of nowhere a pokemon's voice was heard, "Skull". Edmond chuckled and responded, "I'm glad you like it too. It looks great with the cloak right?" A Duskull appered from thin air and got close to the mask. Edmond finally put it away in his messanger bag and looked forward. He had never left home before and he was very ready to start his adventure. He looked over to his pokemon and said, "Hey Clyde, I think we should try it one more time. What do you think? Yes? Ok!" Edmond picked up some rocks from the ground and threw them in the air and when they were at the highest point they reached he yelled a command to his Duskull.

Duskull's speed was amazing. He quickly positioned himself and shoot a white beam from his body. Three rocks fell back down and they were covered in ice, one was left untouched. "THREE OUT OF FOUR! CHECK YOU OUT HOT SHOT! I knew you'd be great with an ice beam attack." Edmond pulled out two treats from his bag and gave one to Clyde and popped the other in his mouth. "See Clyde... we're going to be just fine out here. We're going to have fun, and adventure and... And battles! REAL pokemon battles. Not like the ones Bro lets us win... Yeah. Haha! You look more excited than I am."

They walked for a while and without a sound Clyde sucked himself back into thin air. He only became invisable that quickly when his ghostly senses felt something was off. Edmond noticed this immediatly and asked, "What is it?"

Not soon after Edmond had asked his pokémon a small rustling nearby could be heard, however the direction it was coming from seemed to change quite a bit. After a few minutes the rustling came to a sudden halt. It seemed like whatever was moving about earlier had vanished completely when a racoon-like pokémon suddenly burst out from under a bush. It moved this way and that in a zigzagging movement and nearly crashed head first into Edmond, stopping only inches away.

There was no mistaking it, this was a Zigzagoon, a fairly common pokémon for this area. It glanced up nervously as the trainer before it, frozen in its tracks and unsure what to do with itself now. It tried to casually take a step back, then spotted the trainers scary looking pokémon. It had never seen anything like it in its entire life and was incredibly frightened now as it continued to back away from the duo, unsure if it was safe to turn its back on them and sprint off.

"Whoa that pokemon was FAST! Clyde, I think it was even faster then you. Of course it must have been way stronger then us. Clyde he saw you so it must have had that Odor Sleuth attack. Haha! Well I guess it must have smelled you while you were invisable. Hmmm... It was scared though. Hope it's ok." Edmond put his hands to his face and around his mouth and yelled in the direction of the fleeing pokemon, "SORRY WE SCARED YOU ZIGZAGOON! SORRY! I'll leave you a treat right here ok!? SORRY!" Edmond put down a treat and started walking some more. "I wish it hadn't run off... I would have liked to battle it. With it's Oder Sleuth and your foresight... it would have been a nice match huh? Clyde, maybe you shouldn't go invisable unless it's an emergency anymore... We don't want to scare any more pokemon...."

They didn't walk too far before they set up camp and it became dark. "Try to get some sleep ok Clyde?"

Edmond fell asleep. But Clyde never took his eyes off that treat. He didn't want it, but he couldn't stop watching it.

The wild Zigzagoon panted as it stayed hidden under a bush and watched the human and his pokémon with interest. 'What were they doing here?' it wondered to itself. At first it was scared by the boy yelling and nearly ran full pelt out of there, then it heard a word it knew rather well 'treat'. The normal type pokémon was rather fond of treats and smiled to itself. However it didn't really want to get close to the human and that strange pokémon again. Its brown eyes continued to watch them, trying to find the perfect moment to dash out from its hiding place and steal the treat. Much to the Zigzagoon's dismay the strange, ghost pokémon kept watching the treat, if it kept that up there wasn't much hope in stealing it.

Just as the Zigzagoon was going to give up it noticed a Wurmple making its slow and steady way over to the duo. It seemed utterly oblivious to the sleeping trainer and the pokémon watching the treat. The Zigzagoon noticed that the worm pokémon’s eyes were fixed on the treat as it made its slow way over. The Zigzagoon smirked, if that stupid bug could cause a large enough commotion it just might be able to steal the treat after all. The tiny racoon pokémon crouched down, ready to sprint out when the time was right.

Duskull saw the Wurmple and became afraid that it was going to eat the treat that was ment for for the Zigagoon. It wanted to attack but he didn't want to hurt it. Duskull went into the tent and woke up Edmond. "What is it Clyde? Why aren't you asleep. Just because you're a ghost doesn't mean you have to stay up all night buddy. Huh?" Edmond saw the Wurmple inching closer to the treat. "Ah, uh... Damn. I can't let him have it... I can't use up all my food on the first day. I guess I need to tell him not to." Edmond got out of the tent and realized how cold it was. He reached into his bag and put on his cloak. It didn't really keep him from being cold- it just made it so the cold didn't bother him. He walked close to the bug pokemon and squated down. "Hey you. Uhm... I left that out for someone else. Do you mind not eating it. I can get you some leaves if you like. From the top of the trees. I suppose those would be best huh? I mean I wouldn't know... I don't eat leaves. Well I eat spinach but I don't know what part of the plant they come from. Top or bottom I mean. Anyway what I'm trying to say is that you shouldn't.... or you can just... Seriously Wurmple stop. Clyde be nice to him ok? Disable."

The Wurmple suddenly stopped moving, frozen in its tracks. It was only then that it noticed the trainer and the Duskull. Its eyes widened showing its fear as it attempted, but failed, to squirm away and out of sight. It managed to lean back slightly and point its tail towards the ghost pokémon before firing a shot of poison from its tail. The poison sting was heading directly for the Duskull’s body.

Now that the human seemed distracted by the annoying bug pokémon Zigzagoon took this opportunity to work its magic. It dashed from its cover under the bush, its eyes locked on its target, the treat. It felt its paws touch the ground before almost immediately pushing off and taking more steps, faster and faster, using all its strength to sprint past the human and nab the treat as it dashed in front of the human’s pokémon. Then like lightning the racoon-like pokémon dug in its back paws and swivelled on the spot, turning one hundred and eighty degrees. The Zigzagoon then started to make its risky way back past the human and pokémon, hoping it would be too fast for them to catch.

Edmond had to think quickly. He had two wild pokemon near him at the same time and one was attacking. Maybe he shouldn't leave treats out at night... He had so much to learn about being on his own as a trainer. And around here Clyde isn't seen as just another pokemon, he's scaring everyone... it's not fair. He's a nice Duskull... How dare they be so scared of him? Edmond made his choice.

The zigzagoon got it's treat, let that be a sign that we are forgiven for scaring it. Now this wurmple wont stop attacking until we make it. Around here they aren't used to Duskull well, they aren't used to the way he and I fight. "Clyde Shadow Shards now!"

Edmond had a flash of a memory. His brother and sister were holding another tournament. It was common. His brother had a very strong Loudren and his sister an equally strong Spinda. They were always the last peole you had to fight in the tournaments. Once He saw his sister fight an Onyx and it used Rock Throw on her Spinda. At the same time his brother's Loudren was fighting a Vespiquen. Then something interesting happened. Something that changed Edmonds thoughts on battles. Loudren stopped chasing Vespiquen and used a Water Pulse on Onyx. Spinda used Dizzy Punch on the giant rock Onyx had created and launched at Loudren. The rock shattered and shards went everywhere. They mostly flew in the direction of Vespiquen and it fainted from the simulated stone edge. Edmond saw how this worked and tried to simulate what these two pokemon could do with just his duskull. Together they practiced and practiced and now they finally get to try it out in the wild.

Duskull used his ice beam and created a wall between himself and Edmond and the Wurmple. Once the Ice deflected the poison sting Duskull shot a night shade beam at the ice making a small explosion. Shadowy shards of ice flew fast up in the air and towards the fleeing zigzagoon. All the practice they put into this move made sure that shards wouldn't hurt Edmond or Clyde.

Ice flew in all directions. Edmond looked very with excitment to see what would happen.

The bug type pokémon was still in shock as it was hit by a few stray shards of ice, severely damaging the weak little pokémon. Barely able the move its body still, the Wurmple attempted to shimmy its way out of this situation the only way it knew how. Fire a string shot and get out of there as quick as it feet could take it. The wild, red bug pokémon began mixing a sticky substance in its mouth then lined up its shot, targeting both human and pokémon in one hit. It felt its saliva build up before spitting out a sticky string from its mouth, trying to pin the two down.

The Zigzagoon was running at break neck pace as it dove towards its bush, however it was hit by numerous shards of ice, flung towards it by the Duskull, one penetrating its right, hind leg and causing the wild pokémon to trip over and tumble along the ground. The Zigzagoon rose back to its feet and attempted to take off again, but as soon as its wounded leg hit the ground a shot of pain flew through it, causing it to cry out before collapsing on the ground once more. It turned to look at the trainer and his pokémon, unsure of what they were planning. Unable to flee from this situation Zigzagoon waited for them to make a move.

Edmond and Duskull ripped the gooey string from themselves. They walked towards the hurt Zigzagoon while still picking out string from their body. When they got to the injured pokemon he once again got couched down to talk to it. "You have your treat. Now you should go. You're a strong pokemon and you should be more brave. A pokemon at your level shouldn't run so quickly. Trainers are going to walk up and down this path so if you don't like it, get stronger or go away." The poor zigzagoon looked scared. "I'm not going to hurt you... I just wanted to let you know. Now you should get out of here, Clyde and I want to sleep. Clyde... You're healthy... Pain split."

Clyde fell into Edmonds arms as it was struck by pain and zigzagoon was relived from the pain. It was able to walk again and now Clyde had to recover. "Lets get to bed Clyde... Your attack was amazing..."

They went to bed and contiued their journy late the next day.
They walked for a bit when they came upon a small river. They walked along the river bank for a while. Then Edmond decided to stop for lunch. He took out some food his sister had packed fo him. They say down by the river and ate.

They finished their food and looked at the water. Edmond went down to wash his face.
Clyde played in the water.

When Edmons eyes were closed and he reached back down to touch the water his fingers his a solid object. He opened his eyes to see a pair stairing right back at him.

Edmond smiled.

The Zigzagoon blinked as it suddenly felt much better thanks to the Duskull’s sacrifice. It couldn’t believe that a human and their pokémon would ever do such a thing. Humans always harmed pokémon, not helped them. The tiny racoon pokémon tested its hind leg to find it was better than ever. It gave one final look of thanks to the trainer and the ghost pokémon before dashing off at full pelt into the shrubbery nearby.

~~~
The pair of white eyes stared at Edmond, completely expressionless. The pokémon owning the eyes stared a little longer before turning to leave, showing bright red scales along its body. However instead of just leaving it began to just swim in circles, showing off its body further. It had two golden fins on the top and bottom of its body and white side fins and tail. This pokémon was so common it was almost laughable and could only be identified as a Magikarp.
"Oh hey. Uhm. A magikarp huh?" Clyde looked up and saw duskull already staring at the fish. "Hey Magikarp... I kind of want you on my team. Alright! Lets do this! Duskull get him out of there. I'm thinking a pillar then a slide? Yes? Do it Clyde!!!"
Duskull went under water for a momment and the water started to glow white.
Duskull knew Ice beam ever since he hatched. It was a TM that Edmond found and used on Duskull. They had used it ever since. It was so strange. Duskull couldn't learn thunder but could learn ice beam. It was odd for a ghost. Everything about Edmond and Clyde was odd.
A pillar of ice grew under magikarp and then a slope went from the top of it to the land. Magikarp didn't freeze but became very cold. Magikarp slid down to the land. Edmond waited at the bottom of the slide with a pokeball in his hand. He kept the pokeball low on the ground and facing magikarp. When the pokemon crashed into the ball it went inside. Edmond put it on the ground and watched the pokeball wiggle in place.
The Magikarp was caught by surprise, unable to understand what the human was saying to it from under the water. Then suddenly attacked out of nowhere and finding itself on an icy slide that felt freezing along its scales. The water pokémon was completely unprepared for such a thing and attempted to use Splash as it flopped around on the land, trying desperately to make it back in the water. However just as it thought it was going to make it the trainer sends a pokéball at it. The Magikarp was so frightened. It felt itself get absorbed into the pokéball and tried forcing its way back out. Eventually it was successful; it flew out of the pokéball and continued to try to make it back to the water. The pokéball was left lying on the ground where the fish pokémon had been moments ago.
"Did.... Did I just... I just spent a whole poke ball trying to catch a Magikarp and failed... Now... Will it be in vain or do I cut my loses and run... No now I want this pokemon... I really hope he's worth it in the end.... He will be. I'll making him strong. Clyde lets try this Disable! Then night shade! Clyde... Clyde what's wrong... Is something wrong Clyde... Look it's getting away... Hey... what are you looking at?" Clyde's gaze was strong and fixated on something. Edmond ignored the spashing fish and turned to see what was so important. "Clyde we could have got a new member to our tea-".
A strange looking pokémon could be seen dashing over the top of the water. Its four spindly legs seemed to glide over the surface without any trouble. The water barely rippling as it crossed. Its body was a pale blue, matching the colour of the water in the area. The top of its head was yellow and possessed on straight spike. It was but a few meters from the duo’s location before it noticed them and its pink cheeks seemed to grow a deeper pink, as it was embarrassed it had only just spotted them. Its black and white eyes looked at the trainer and his Duskull with curiosity as it tilted its body this way and that, spinning in circles along the water. Such a pokémon was rare in these parts, but not unheard of and it is known simply as Surskit.
"Wow it's so.... beautiful. Surskit... I don't know if you can hear me..." Edmond wondered how fast that pokemon must be moving, it wasn't sinking into the water. It moved so gracefully. Edmond was in awh of the pokemon. It made him smile and duskull seemed to like it too. "Surskit! Please slow down. Look My name is Edmond and I am a pokemon trainer. This is my best friend Clyde. We're going on an adventure and I'd love for you to come! What do you say? Come with me?" Edmond thought he should stop asking and just catch it. But he wanted the pokemon to like him... Three pokemon already rejected him and he didn't know wether to fight, or talk or use another treat. He just knew that he was ment to catch that pokemon. He could feel it.
"What do you say? Come with me! You seem like the wondering type. So wonder with us! Duskull freeze the water! Try to get it's feet ok? Imobolize it so I can catch it. Ice Beam AGAIN!"
The Surskit seemed to giggle and as it did the vibrations caused the surface of the water to ripple. The Pond Skater pokémon effortlessly slid across the water and listened to the human. Not having any real contact with one before it didn’t know what to expect from it and the pokémon that was with the trainer seemed to be rather fond of him. Perhaps that meant that the other wild pokémon had lied about humans enslaving pokémon to do their bidding. Maybe not all trainers were as evil as it grew up thinking they were. The Surskit noticed the water start to freeze over thanks to the Duskull and took this to be a challenge. It giggled again and instead of being trapped in the ice like Edmond planned the wild pokémon simply glided onto the ice and continued skating around, enjoying the new sensation, if only a little cold on the tips of its legs. The Surskit decided to get a little closer to the human and Duskull. After all, there was only one way to find out if they were really as bad as all the pokémon said they were.
"It didn't work? No don't worry Clyde it's not your fault. It's just amazingly fast." The Surskit was very close to Edmond now. "How'd you do that Surskit? You sure are impressive. Sliding around on the ice like that. Surskit I'd like you to join me on my team. You'll have to trust me and let me catch you. But look at Clyde... he's not my pet he's my friend. Lets be friends ok?" Clyde look down at the pokemon on the ice. It spoke, "Skull, dusk, skull."
Clyde laughed a little, "How about this. You're a skating pokemon in a make shift ice rink. I'll show you what kind of trainer I am. You skate around just like you just did. If Duskull can catch you then you'll join my team... does that sound good to you?"
The Surskit loved a good challenge and the Duskull did seem rather fond of the human. In fact the trainer actually sounded rather nice. The Surskit moved its body, appearing to nod, before taking off along the ice with amazing speed. The smoothness of the ice was far easier to gain speed on than the ever changing water that was always flowing, causing Surskit to sometimes trip. The wild part water pokémon continued to skate around as the human had suggested and waited for the Ghost pokémon to make the next move. This was going to be so much fun.
"Surskit... let's see if I can do this without chasing you. Duskull... Ice beam ok? But I don't want you to aim at it. Make a wall around so that we can close up some space. It's too fast to catch in a small circle so give it a lot of room ok?"
Duskull floated up high and shot an ice beam down at an angle and turned 360 degrees. It started to look like a real ice rink. Other pokemon started to notice and watch. They were curious. It wasn't a battle but it sort of was. The three of them were actually having fun.
"Clyde you're doing great. Now look this is the part where things get fun. Now from up there I want you to use night shade straight down into the middle of the ice rink!"
Duskull did just that and the top layer of ice shattered. The smooth ice rink had become a walled up, jagged, un leveled, rocky ice terrain. Surskit couldn't just glide. There wasn't enough room between larg ice shards.
"Clyde! Use foresight now!"
Clydes eyes began to glow. It locked on to the surskit. I was keeping such good track of the pokemon. It was as though Duskull could see what it was going to do a split second before it did it.
"Forsight doesn't just let us hit normal and fighting types! Ha! It also helps us hit the faster more elusive targets. Now Duskull consintrate. When you get the chance I want you to use disable. If it hits Surskit will stop moving for a short while. I want you to just tap it on its head. Ha! Lets go! DISABLE!"
The Surskit moves quickly and surely around the area of ice as Duskull first finished the ice rink. It was confident in its abilities to avoid the Duskull’s capture as it spun circles around the ghost pokémon with amazing speed and agility. However just when it thought the Duskull didn’t stand a chance it attacked the ice, sending large waves of both water and ice all around making it near impossible to stay above the water level. The Surskit slipped and slid as its feet got all tangled in its failing attempt to remain above the surface. Eventually a large enough chunk of ice caught it unaware and sent it falling into the water, it would be hard to get back out, even once the water resettled. Surskit felt the watchful eye of the Duskull from above as it squirmed about and pulled itself onto a floating piece of ice. It was about to leap to another piece when it suddenly had trouble moving all together. The Surskit was impressed; the human and pokémon seemed to work together in such harmony. They were even able to stop a pokémon such as itself in its tracks. The wild pokémon remained fixed on the piece of ice as it floated along the water.
"Great job! And now! Touch surskit!"
Duskull went down to Surskit's level and touched it.
"Hah! See Surskit. Duskul only had to move twice! We didn't chase you. That's the kind of trainer I am! And now I'll train you to be just as amazing as Clyde. POKEBALL! GO!"
The Surskit knew when it was beaten and didn't even attempt to avoid the inevitable. It wasn't going to back out of the deal now; it had lost fair and square. The pokéball absorbed the Surskit which didn’t even bother to fight it as the red light encased it completely and sucked the former wild pokémon inside. The pokéball landed on the piece of ice the Surskit had previously been standing on and wiggled a bit as it grew used to its new home inside the ball. After but a few mere seconds the pokéball stopped moving and it clicked, the tell tale sign that the capture was successful.
Duskull brought Edmond the pokeball. Edmond let the Surskit out and huged it. Surskit crawled up Edmonds arm, onto his head and hopped on Duskull. It tickled Duskull and they laughed.
"Surskit, you seem to like Clyde. Oh wow... You're staying up there aren't you!? Hahaha you're like a dew drop. I think I'll call you that.. Dew Drop! You like that name?"
Dew-Drop nodded. They were now officially partners.
"Now Dew-Drop, you're going to have to show me what you can do. Hahahaha."
The three of them trained together all day and laughed the whole time. They ran together and suddenly found themselves outside of a town.
"Whoa, what's this place?"
